Skip MTs. Get a good AT like the falken AT3w. Quiet on road and won’t kill your fuel economy. Still an aggressive looking tire.

If you’re just looking for cheap and don’t care about noise, mpg, or road characteristics, Federal Couragia MTs are pretty popular where I’m at.

A little over a month ago, I had my KM3s rotated, and a day later I had the luck of running into some 3” X 3/8” lag bolts in the road and 2 of them managed to take a ride home with me in my right front tire. Next day I’m back at the tire shop for new tires but the only 285/70/17 mud tires they had in stock were something I’ve never heard of. 6 weeks later, I’m running Eldorado Mud Claw Extreme MTs and I’m surprised with them. Pretty good road noise even at 70mph, decent handling in mud and they self clean remarkably well. I’m maybe 300 miles in, 4x4 almost every weekend thru mud and rocks and I still have hairs at the end of the tires, lugs all look pretty decent. Road characteristics could be better, you can definitely feel the deep lugs when going slow in parking lots, but they’re mud tires, it’s to be expected. Overall I’m gonna be providing an update at 20k miles and see what life I have in them, if they’re still good I might just spend another $650 on these and get a new set.

If you’re just wanting aggressive and running them for a short period of time, take a look at the Federal Couragia MTs. Even if you decide to run them past summer or into the 30,000+ mile range, I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with them. If you just rotate them normally and don’t absolutely abuse them on the freeway by going 70mph for 2 hours on a road trip or something, you’ll get some decent life out of them.

What size you looking at? What’s the price difference between the 2 tires in your size?

Thunderer and federal on Amazon for about 100 difference with the federal costing more.

Don’t personally know anyone with thunderer trac mt, but I have watched some reviews on them on YouTube and it seems like there’s a love/hate relationship with them, but so does the federals. If it’s a $100 difference and you don’t mind that, just go with what looks better to you. They’re both gonna handle the same, they’re typical cheap mud terrains so you’re not expecting a smooth ride for years anyway.

I definitely would have, but living in Hawaii has its limitations, tires coming in thru Amazon being one of them:bananadead: when I was living in California, a lot of my buddies bought tires on amazon with no problems.
