Looking for opinions on some good cheap mud terrain tires to put on my Tacoma. I'm not really looking to lift it anytime soon and I'm in need of tires.

Also would like to get 265/75/R16 to get a little extra ground clearance. I would expect them to rub a little on full lock but is the rubbing really annoying?

That size tire will not rub at all. If you're looking for a cheap tire try Goodyear Wrangler Authority from Walmart. They're more a real aggressive AT, but I love them. They wear good too.

Ohh okay. I had heard from people that that size tire would rub with no lift, I don't really have a clue. Just seeing what you guys though

Nope, that tire size came stock from factory. That's the largest size that won't rub on factory rims.

I though 265/70 was factory size? That's what size I have on there now, but the previous owner (older man) put those on.

Depends on package. Largest stock size was 265/75/16. Your door code will tell you what came factory

I have the wrangler authorities in 265/75 load E and I love them, I've only gotten stuck in mud when my frame was touching.

You can fit a 32 or even a 33 with no lift. Just takes a little trimming and removal of pinch weld.

Thanks for the input guys. I do like the look (and price) of that tire lol.

If anybody else has any reviews of that tire please feel free to share.

Just some advice, but if you get these tires from Walmart, buy the road hazard. It's $10 a tire and completely worth it. I've already replaced 3 tires with it. Also, the Walmart guys at my local Walmart cant balance tires for shit. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't buy the lifetime balance and rotate, because I take my tires elsewhere to balance anyway.

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
Look up TreadWright Guard Dogs. They're well-made retreads, but IMO they are just as legit as a 'new' tire. I'm on my second set of Wardens (AT) and I've had nothing but a great experience with them.

And btw in my experience you will likely rub on the frame at full lock, especially in reverse, with most 265/75s but its minor. Might want to do the pinch weld mod anyway, just to avoid possible tire damage.

I would have my concerns on bargin priced mud tires, noisy, terrible in the rain and worse on ice. I bought a set of mudstar M/T mud terrains for the 68 dodge Utiline, Holley, headers, glass packs. Terrible on paved roads.

1st Gens never came with 265/75R16 in any package. TRD and even SR5 came with 265/70R16 with steel or Aluminum rims. 31x10.5R15 is the same size. You "can" fit 265/75R15 which is the same size.

265/75-16 will only rub at full lock(turn) and not much anywhere else, maybe the occasional mud flap but that's if it flexes enough.

^^^ alot of people around here use those without any problems. Their a little loud is all.

Im running maxxis bighorns. Love them and their reasonable priced.

    32-11.5 no lift.
