I love my Tacoma and want to upgrade it bit by bit and make it my own. However my wallet and my wife don’t agree with my ambitions. What are some of your cheap mods that you love and have made your taco unique?

The best modifications are the ones that tick up the odometer and make memories along the way, imo.

there are vendors in the vendors section that do custon vinyl work. Stripes, stickers etc are a cheap way to make her different.

Honda Odyssey washer nozzles, USB ports where the power outlets are, dye the shift boot and armrest top, add some led pods, get new floor mats or make your own!, led bulbs all around, new LED plate lamps, LED high brake lamp, inexpensive seat covers, differential breather tube extensions, home made bed divider, cheap toolbox for the back, switchback lights from Roachwerks, and same for lighted ignition ring, etc.

You can nickel and dime some cheap mods!

Myself I would just keep up on the maintenance side of things once that is up to speed then decide what you can not live without.

I used duracolor vinyl spray. I’m thinking about taking both off and letting them sit in a container of RIT black dye. The spray got crinkly on the shifter but looks great on the console

And the seat covers are very protective. My 5yo puked all over and I just tossed them in the washer and hung dried them. Seats had nothing on them

My faves and some of the less expensive are the head unit and backup camera.

So lemme get this straight: You want to make it your own by asking other people what you should do to it... m'kay.

    lol

EDIT (to add actually helpful advise): @MitchHamwich

We are not you, and you are not us. We can tell you what mods we've done, but they in all likelihood won't really apply very well to you and your needs.

If you really want to make it your own, figure out what you do with it, and what you wish it could do. Is this a daily driver commuter, a hunting/fishing truck, a dedicated trail/rock crawler, etc...

Once you decide on that, we can help you figure out HOW to do what you're trying to do, but we can't really tell you WHAT to do.

Like, ah man, I wish it had a backup camera. Or I want to install a winch but I want it to remain as stock looking as possible. Or I wish the cig lighter plugs were hot all the time so I can charge my phone without the key in the ignition. etc...

We can all help point you in the right direction for all that stuff and more.
