Looking to get a power bank (Bluetti or ecoflow) and wondered if I can charge this using the power outlet of the tacoma when the engine is on? Will it continue to charge even when the engine is off? I.e. could I set it to automatically switch to solar charging so that I dont continue to discharge the starter battery?

Yes. Anything less than a 3.3A @ 110v draw will work just fine. Some stuff, like power tools that need more than 3.3A, will just run slower.

Although, it will not work when the engine is off and will only deliver 1/4 of that when moving. I would suggest the 400w anytime mod to fix that:

See the excellent harness that @kmorgan3 is selling. With it, you can install an outlet on the back of the console:

Otherwise, you could use a USB charger? There are non-keyed power sources, like in the trailer brake controller harness behind the drivers side kick panel.

Yep, that’ll work. Tonered covered it best.
