All, I'm about to swap Sport wheels on a 2020 with T4R pro wheels and different tires. The question is, what to do about the sensors. Am planning to sell the sport wheels and tires, and was planning to do so as a complete package. However, it's starting to seem like it might be cheaper to have the tire shop pull the old tires off and switch the sensors to my new wheels (instead of buying new ones), and just sell the wheels and tires separately. I'm sure this has been asked, and I did search, but wondering if anyone has thoughts on this.

Put all the sensors in your spare. Let the new owner deal with what they want to do with the used tires/wheels.

When you sell your old wheels/tires the sensors in them may well not even work with the new owners truck. It depends on when it was made. If you decide to pull them and have them installed in my new wheels it doesn't cost all that much to do it. Shouldn't be more than $10/ wheel.

But then a new set of sensors shouldn't be more than $80-$100 and there should be no charge to install them when mounting new tires. Close call, but I'd want working sensors.

This, and new sensors will should have fresh batteries, which is nice for a bit more time before replacing again.

I'm all for newer, but at least Discount Tire is listing a single TPMS sensor for $60

Yep. If you buy tires from them, they will usually give you a significant discount on the overall package, just have to ask. I ordered 4 tires from them a month ago, had them mounted on wheels with new sensors and balanced, I think the discount would have come down to a cost of about $35/sensor if that is where the discount was applied. They do silly stuff with the numbers on the invoice, but I don't care where they make the discount, as long as the OTD price is good. If you compare them to other tire shops they will be about the same as far as retail pricing.

if U buy new tire pressure sensors

u will spend good $$$$ which U might not mind

U will have to program them.......can be tryin

    voila now Ur set

or U could use what U already have

tire shops these parts wont set up wheels & tyres w/o the sensors.............against the law

Is this new? My sensors have been gone for 5 years. No issue getting new tires.

Keep your sensors and sell the others without any. That's normal.

Either keep your stock sensors or your new wheels.
Or buy new programmable sensors (Autel, etc) and clone them with your stock sensor ids, and install your clone sensors in your new wheels.

This! This is the most rational thing to do. Anything else, you're just complicating it.

I swapped my OR wheels and tires and kept my original sensors. Sold the wheels with tires for $800 with no sensors, valve stems or lug nuts.

I'm in the same situation right now. I just bought a new set of wheels and tires and they are expected to ship here within a week or two. I currently have TRD Sport wheels with the OEM TPMS sensors and I'm planning on switching the OEM TPMS sensors from my TRD Sport wheels to my new wheels. I'm going to ask DiscountTire to not put the tires back on the trd sport wheels once they are taken off

Id keep your TPMS and put in your new wheels.

Discount tire sells them about 60-80 a piece unless you can negotiate. I actually bought ebay ones for 25 bucks and told them if they didn't work just keep my OEM ones. They ended up not checking but installing my new wheels and tires on the truck. Ended up having to go back three times. But in the end they gave me new TPMS for 60 bucks(for all 4) because of how they messed up.

Buy new sensor for your new wheels. RockAuto has them for about $33/each. Tire shop will charge a fee to program them to the truck. $60/each seems high to me.

Let the old sensors go with the old wheels. Some buyers will see them as a selling point. Other buyers won't care and remove them anyhow.

If they still have good batteries and are now all living in the spare tire, which is properly inflated, you will not have a light on the dash. The computer doesn't know where the sensors now live.

I find it hard to believe that the state tech is going to delate one of your tires to see if a the TPMS light comes on.

In case I was transparent, I have no use for the TPMS we now have. I never believed it was a safety feature. It's main use is to remind people to keep tires properly inflated to ensure the best MPG.
