I just brought home a 2018 Tacoma SR5 with 25,000 miles which is replacing my 2003 Tundra with 200,000 miles. My plan is to make the taco my daily driver (what a great truck)! and retire the Tundra to the farm.
The tundra will have an easy life hauling firewood, and plowing the driveway in the winter.
I’d like to replace the 245/75R16 currently on the Tacoma with the 265/70R16 (brand new!) tires from the Tundra.
From what I’ve read the tires I would like to put on will be about 3/4 of an inch wider and only about 2 mm taller than the OEM tires. I can’t imagine that would make a difference but thought I would check with you guys.
    Any thoughts?

265 70 16 is what the TRD Off Road comes with from the factory. So the truck is designed to work with that wheel tire size.

Will a tire size 265/70/16 fit on a 16 x 8 -12 mm offset wheel fit without any rubbing issues on a 2019 TRD OR 2wd stock suspension?

EDIT: I didn't take into account the positive offset on the stock wheel. See discount tire's response below for a better answer

I don't have experience with that setup. However, my guess is that you would rub. The 1" wider wheel (I think the stock wheel is 7"? someone can confirm) pushes the center of the tire out by 1/2", and the -12 offset by another 1/2", so the end result is the tires stick out a full inch wider than stock.

The factory wheels are 7-inches wide with +25mm offset, so the 16x8 ET-12 is going to sit 2-inches further out over stock. With 265/70R-16 size tires installed you won't have any "serious" rub if you will, but the tires may make contact around the mud flap area which can be remedied with some trimming.

265/75r16 is a great tire size. The proportions are “just right” Making them look bigger than a 32” and they have a nice chunky profile.

Will a 265/75/16 tire look better without rubbing other than around the mud flap area? I was thinking a bit bigger tire.

If your goal is to fit the largest tire possible without rubbing and without modifying your truck, your best route is 265/75r16 and use wheels that are the same specs as stock.

    Thanks for your reply.
That's my goal, to have the largest tire (you suggested 265/75/16) with no rubbing and modification to the suspension of my truck. I have an aftermarket wheel of 16x8 with -12 mm offset compared to the OEM wheel of 16x7 with +25mm offset. (stock tire 265/70/16).
I realized with the aftermarket wheel it will sit 2" farther out.
Will this set up 265/75/16 tire and 16x8 wheel -12 mm offset work with stock suspension for a 2019 TRD OR?
Sorry, for being redundant, i just don't to want have rubbing and suspension issues. Thanks again!
