    Hello!

Joined the forum to make this thread. New to owning a truck and the Tacoma world. I got new headlights, they look good but they didn’t come with instructions or guide so not sure how to connect this additional cable that came with it. Any guidance would be helpful, tried connecting it to an “ACC” adapter in the fuse box but could figure out where, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are those HID or halogen projectors in your new headlights?

Did the headlights come with any type of wiring harness to adapt your existing plug to your new bulbs? Since these are what bi-xenon or bi-halogen projectors, there will be a separate connection for activating your high beams. In the OEM halogen setup the high beam toggle is done within the bulb itself. With projector bulbs there's an actual flap in the projector that goes up or down using an electromagnet and that is what controls your high beams.

My suspicion is that cable is meant to account for this, but without knowing exactly what you bought I can't really say more.

    Nice truck, btw

I retrofitted my OEM headlights with ACME projectors, so I just used the factory aiming mechanism.

I found the center of my headlights by locating the dot on my lens. I measured the height from the ground to the dot as well as well as the distance between them.

I then lined up my truck up with a wall, and marked out the center of my truck on the wall. I used the measurements taken earlier to mark the center of my headlights on the wall.

Finally, I made two last marks on the wall 2" lower than the actual height of the headlights.

With all this done, I backed my truck up 25' and made sure the centers of my headlight beams lined up with the last set of marks I made on the wall. This was all done using painters tape, btw.

    This was my result:

projector yes, I’m admittedly a car dummy. So I will do my best. There were 4 connectors on these bad boys. Turn signal, projector, side light, and then a small single prong connector I’m assuming this additional splitting wire connects to for both headlights.

    thank you for the assist!

also, there is a small metal screw next to the projector plug that I believe is how I adjust the angle but now that I’ve installed them, it is out of reach .

So by the looks of it, your OEM lightbulb plugs into the three prong plug that came with the headlights. That prong then splits the signal into light bulbs and high beams.

It's possible that extra cable is just simply extra or for a different application. Test your headlights and make sure all the functions work. If they do, you can probably quite safely ignore those extra cables.

You'll notice those adjustment screws have a sort of channel that runs to them and the backs of the screws have some teeth on them. You can slide a large phillips head screw driver into that channel and turn the bolt using those teeth instead of the nut.

When I very first adjusted my headlights I attempted to use the nut and struggled like mad to get a wrench in there. I later found out those screws are designed so they can also accept a screwdriver in the side which is so much easier.

That's a picture taken from the headlights you purchased. You can see the teeth on the back of the built-in washer and the channel at the top. That is where you would stick a screwdriver to adjust your headlights.

SUPER HELPFUL, much more than the manufacture who recommends professional installation. The head lights work, both low and high beams. I wasn’t sure if the DRL feature is supposed to have the halogen part of the light on all the time.

And I will try the flathead to adjust later this week. Thank you!
