If I remember correctly three times over the last 6 months my mode, volume +, and<&> buttons stop working on the left side of the steering wheel. The volume - and all the phone control buttons still work. The last 2 times all the buttons started working again within 3 days.

I don’t have any trac or abs lights and the cruise control is always working. Any ideas what the issue could be before I just replace the buttons?

Yep, clock spring, or as Toyota calls them, spiral cable. I replaced mine two years ago with a cheap $15 Chinese made unit. It was a faulty unit in that the air bag light came on, but that didnt bother me. I drew the line when my stereo controls stopped working. I bought two this time in case one was bad, but the first one I put in works. You want 84306-0E010.

So I had to listen to the FM radio instead of Apple Car Play yesterday. The <&> buttons as well as all the others work with FM. When I switch to Car Play the <&> don’t work but the other buttons do. Is this still a clock spring issue?

I went through 3 Chinese knock offs and ended with oem. I’d go oem.

If it’s the clock spring I’m going OEM. No reason to replace with an aftermarket when the original lasted 10 years.
