You can see the difference of how you want to apply the sealants.

    Oahu, Hi
Lol nope, I can install a coating to a non corrected paint and it’ll bead. I’ve been installing coatings/detailing for years and do it as a side job. Even Ceramic Pro themselves advertise that their coatings have hydrophobic properties.

How long does this hydro2 last? One wash, then gotta re apply?
I have to wash my truck after each set of continental shifts due to industrial fallout at work. I have arctic coating on it to help protect it.

If you get your car coated, iron X is what you need as it'll turn the fallout to purple either powerwash it off or wash mitt. I can't say how often to use but for me if I go on some long 500-1000 mile ride I usually use it. Other than that 3-4 times a year in my area.

As far as hydro o2, in my experience it last for about 2 months depending on conditions your driving in. It's why you need to use a PH neutral soap so you don't wash it off. I've done just a simple hand wash like 3 times or so before I reapplied the sealant.

pretty sure your megs gold class wash is not ph neutral. you need to look for a car wash that states it clearly on the package. any wash with wax in it is definitely not ph neutral. I use this https://majesticsolutions.com/product/shield-bath to go along with my Majestic Solutions coating.

Gold glass is not ph neutral. You need a soap that doesn't have a bunch of add on likes wax or whatever. Meguiars hyperwash is cheap and can buy it by the gallons on autogeek. Right now its 15% off but there is time when it's 20-25% off.
I've heard this is good stuff to, but it's hard for me to move away from what I know works well.

Just watch the videos I posted earlier. It really not to bad.

the Shield Bath I use is pretty good honestly. and $25 for a gallon, it is hard to beat. I have even heard of using dish soap for a vehicle with a ceramic coating. since it isn't wax based, the dish soap will not hurt it. but I am too leery to try that.

Never heard anyone use it on a ceramic coating....I wouldn't try it even though I doubt it would do anything.

I bet you’re a real riot at parties.

Also, $1000 is not a lot of money. If it saves me a single 12 day detailing a car then it paid for itself.

    Sorry about your issues.

You can apply it your self. There is consumer type of ceramics coating. The real good coating are only sold to distributors who are certified ceramic installers, unless you have a hook up...

In reality if you wanted to get your truck or car have a full paint correction its usually in the 500+ dollar range at most shops. That's the reason why so it starts off so expensive for installation.

I'll reiterate that having a warrenty on your coating is a waste of money and it's how they make heir money, just like every other warrenty out there. They claim they need to check your coating to make sure it's fine blah blah blah, all they do is add the silica sealants I've mentioned in previous posts as a "refresh" as what they call it. Do it yourself! I'm sure everyone here like to work on their own truck and save money, do the same if your coat your vehicle and do the maintenance yourself.

yup, my $89 coating requires a "Revive" spray refresh every 6 months or so, but its not a big deal to me. when I detail my vehicles I use the Revive spray anyway just to have some more protection and gloss. you can even use just the Revive spray once every 3 months and it acts like the coating itself. water beads right off and paint is smooth as glass with a nice deep gloss.

the paint correction portion of these $1000 coating jobs is most of the cost. not one detailer can tell me that the coating itself costs $500 or more. it is mainly the labor for the paint correction. all told I bought a gallon of car wash for my coating, one bottle of Revive spray and the coating itself and I paid $170 shipped to my door. I was able to do 2 full cars and wheels (Subaru Impreza Hatch and Subaru Crosstrek) and I still have enough coating to do at least one more full vehicle. I like to look at that as I saved over $800 on each car so I could buy other stuff. I had about 6 hours in each car, not counting the washing and drying. but like I said, my vehicles didn't need much paint correction at all. I understand this task isn't for everyone, but for me, it was a no brainer.

as for warranty, we offer "lifetime" warranties in our tint shop with every job we do. in the past 7 years I have worked there we have had do about 2 warranty claims. we do not charge for our warranty, it is just something we do. however, the only thing the warranty covers is the film itself. it does not cover the labor to remove the old and install the new film. while we usually give them a break on price, we still do have to charge some labor. now, if a vehicle comes back within a year after being tinted, we redo the issue free of charge. but after a year, we have to charge something. it is very rare that we have to warranty a tint job, IF the consumer knows how to properly care for it. just like anything else, if you buy a product with a warranty, then do not take of it as suggested, the warranty is pretty much void anyway.

I don't mind having a detail shop refresh my ceramic coating and I know it's being done correctly as this shop I've used is a licensed Ceramic Pro installer

I probably sounded really harsh in that last post lol. I actually have a detail shop as a backup when I'm sick or cold weather. I'm trying to say it expensive for those reasons when you could easily do it yourself.

A lot of people call it snake oil etc especially when they see a quote when they know nothing of the product. Although I see why people would call it that...
