Hi everyone I am patiently waiting for my QuickSand TRD Off-Road to come in and this is my first Tacoma. I have been in the Jeep world for many years and am excited about getting a Tacoma. I am really interested in making this an Overland build and have been eyeing the CBI Overland Bed Rack. Are there any owners here and what are your pros and cons about it. I'm curious if the OEM Bed Cover will still fit with the bed rack in place. Thanks!

I had a Pelfreybilt bed rack and loved it. This bed rack looks really cool and once it comes time for me to get a new truck I will probably go with this bed rack.
Pros for my bed rack: it was high enough that it allowed me to open the coolers and reach anything else inside of the bed. It was also high enough that to allow me to maximize the space in the annex that was attached to my RTT. The side rails were tall enough to attach my Rotopax on one side and MaxTraxx on the other.
Cons: I couldn't park my truck in the garage with the RTT because it was too tall. I always would set up my truck the night before an outing so I could leave at zero dark 30.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

How do you prevent theft on that?

Well, after it is fully assembled it can be stolen in 5 minutes with a 3/8 socket wrench. Something to think about.

Good point...maybe replace the hardware with some kind of locking bolt?

I'm not sure, I haven't researched something like that.

When I was looking at racks for the top of my Taco, I was pleasantly surprised Yakima, Thule and others engineered core locks into the product. They cost an arm and a leg, but at least I know the rack and kayak carriers have some measure of prevention.

Anyway, a short term measure would be cable locks for your bed rack but I would certainly research the issues. I bet there are some threads here and good info in one of the other forums.

I picked up a CBI Overland Bed Rack in person at CBI last week along with an Xventure XV-2 Trailer :)
I have loved the rack so far. You can't use a folding tonneau cover with it unfortunately. I went with the powder coated aluminum rack.

    PROS:
Best looking rack of its kind IMO
Easy install (although Nathan at CBI installed it for me while we were there. It took him 20 minutes)

    CONS:
    None yet.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

This picture isn't very close up but does show it installed:

I think it is a great looking rack...more photos would be awesome. Awesome Xventure trailer too! I have a SoCal Teardrop I will be pulling with mine.

My Tacoma is currently spending a few weeks out in Colorado with Insain Fab for some bumpers/lift/etc/etc so I can't get you any better pics at present. I think depending on your needs that CBI rack is killer though. What all do you plan to use the rack for?

I'm looking to mount an awning, hi-lift, maxtrax, rotopax and maybe a rooftop tent if I do any solo traveling and not have to bring along the Teardrop.

It will definitely work well for this. I plan to mount all of those same things.

Just got my new taco and I've been researching a lot. I live near the high desert, been wanting to outfit the taco with some overland gear and this is exactly what I want to mount. So far for price, quality and overall functionality the CBI BEDRACK seems like the way to go. I'm sold
