Just got the Cobra 75wxst. I'm trying to figure out a location to hang it. I am going to mount the power box under the driver seat. I am wondering where you guys have your mics hanging. I don't like the idea of hanging it from the mirror.

Mine is mounted to the dash on the passenger side above the glovebox directly to the right of the black center trim

I'm pretty I've seen a few threads on this subject in the off-road/trails section.

    Have you tried searching there?

I've seen all sorts of mounting options, though. You could get one of those retractable key chains and attach it to the ceiling by the rear view mirror, so you just let it go when you're done talking and it retracts to the ceiling.

Or mount the clip on the side of the center console near the shifter. I've seen both sides. Just depends on what's convenient for you.

Just get inside, and try a few different places and see what fits you best.

I originally didnt like the idea of it hanging from the mirror, but i figured out a system that works for me after some trial and error.

it originally swang back and forth during wheeling, but the current setup has been working great. Utilizing a puppy collar from my dog (around the mirror), with a caribeaner that the clip on my cb hangs onto.

and does that not swing around, or does it just not bother you?

I originally used the tether on the cb, to the same caribeaner setup and that used to swing heavily and often hit the head unit. It bothered the shit out of me. After trying a couple different setups on trips this past summer, I moved to the current setup. They way its clipped in now restricts any swinging. Easy to remove/replace on the clip without being distracting while driving.

Its worth noting that I installed a mirror raiser when I first got the truck; and mines a 2nd gen. Not that it makes a major difference..

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
CB mic is mounted on the underside of the center console armrest:

VHF Radio Mic is mounted on the Pass.Side black plastic (under the vent).
*the mic is grounded to metal behind the plastic to support the Hook/Scan function*

I actually thought about that location. But, I have a switch there, which I thought about moving. After seeing your pic, I am liking it more.

Here's how I mounted my 75WXST. I didn't want to drill into the dash anywhere, I just used the plastic hanger with double sided tape. Hasn't fallen off yet in the past 10 yrs.

But then again I disconnect the CB & antenna when not in use.
