This bolt rusted through or broke or was stolen and it is rattling when I'm idling and its driving me nuts. Anyone know what size it is so I can replace it ? Or is it a lost cause. I only have 99k miles and I don't want to have to trade it in yet.

Just do what I did: remove the bolt on the other side, and the clamp on the other end. Take the shields off and put them on a shelf in the garage, to collect dust.

No problems with heat damage from the catalytic in a year+, no problems with road debris damaging it, while living in a colder New England climate.

    its an M6 x 1.0 I believe
about 10-15mm length should do fine.
I just replaced my rusted ones recently. I was able to grab the old rusted nubs with vice grips and snap off.
I go to the pick n pull yard and fill my pockets with German car hardware to populate my bolt index at home. Great way to get very high quality bolts and nuts.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll prolly just get a hose clamp or something and hold it together I don't want to take it off cause I'm in Texas and i don't want the cab any hotter lol. Also I need to recharge the AC

If its doing it during idling than its probably more than 1 thats gone or going out. There pretty cheap but I have no idea what part numbers they are. When my heat shields needed TLC the dealer fixed it for under $30 bucks. It was two bolts that need replacement & it only did it when I floored it!

Mine all rusted out and I replaced them with some 1/4" diameter SST screws, nuts, flat washers- since I already had the hardware. I knocked or ground off the rusted nuts. Been fine for years.

I saw some people used a hose clamp to keep it on/not rattle. Is it supposed to be tight around it or have room to breath? it looks like there's some space between the CC and the shield. I'm prolly going to just get a long bolt and some nuts at Home Depot or Lowes unless it falls off before my day off which it might have I didn't hear it rattling tonight on my way home.

I had an appointment for something else (tires and sticker I think) at the dealer and asked them to look at it. They said easier to just remove the shield, I had no preference though in MA I don't quite get the heat you see.
