I got a Carven exhaust which I love the tone of, however it's a LOT louder then YouTube videos I've watched of it would let on.
I feel like an asshole running it since it's pretty loud on cold startups, which would probably wake my neighbors, as well as take away from the nature experience for others when riding it out on OHV trails.

It tones down once idle and when between 1000-2000 rpm but it's very loud when revving it.

I've read some people add a resonator to help quiet it but I thought resonators are primarily to address drone and raspiness rather then overall noise level?

I'm considering having the stock muffler put back on and getting the magaflow overland series, but really really like the tone of the Carven sans the noise level.

I went from R4T high clearance exhaust to the Magnaflow Overland Series and I’m very happy. The R4T sounds like the Carven, unnecessarily loud.

    +1 for Magnaflow Overland.

That said, when I swapped out the stock y-pipe for the Borla, the exhaust got noticeably quieter as well. Sounds like it's a few hundred rpm lower than it was prior and has a little tougher sound. Might help your situation some, but a loud exhaust is generally a loud exhaust regardless of what else you change.

The Carven has a pretty small muffler, so other options would be to add or change the muffler on your Carven or sound deaden the truck. I generally hear my tires over my exhaust when it comes to a drone, but I hear the exhaust when I want to.

I think I'm going to try to live with the Carven for a month, planning to buy the Magnaflow next month.

I placed an ultra quiet resonator in front of the Carven TR and am pretty content for the moment. It doesn't have as nice of a rumble when idle or lower RPM but it addressed all of my complains.

TRD pro catback or Borla S type catback. All others are obnoxious imo.
