I’ve got a 2021 DCLB premium and noticed intermittent audio stuttering over Apple CarPlay on both my former iPhone 12 and now the 13. I’ve tried different cords with no improvement. The issue is resolved by restarting the truck which is super annoying if I’m already on the road.

Anyone have a fix for this?

I got my new '21 ~3 weeks ago and have had the same bug come up (iPhone 12). For me, it happens about 1 in every 15 times I drive the truck. I've found that it seems to not happen as much if I let the computer initialize (i.e. go through the warning splash screen and get to the main infotainment screen) before I plug in my phone. I've also read that it might just be the way that the software is programmed.

Ok I thought that might play a factor because it seems like when I’m in a hurry it happens more frequently. Like when I jump in, start, plug in, and drive quickly it is more likely to mess up.

Mine is slow to load if I plug it in right away.

I am meaning to try a short Apple certified cable to see if that helps.

I have heard that if all else fails try and official Apple cable. Not just for Caraplay but in general. The Apple certified isn’t just a stamp to get more money (is that part of it, yes, but not only for that)

I’ve seen the same behavior. Not aware of a fix, I’ve just kinda dealt with it. Nothing is ever perfect, a fix would be great, but certainly not a show stopper imo

Sometimes just smacking the side of the radio works.

I had the same issue too. Rebooting the iphone helped at times. How I ultimately solved it was by switching over to the actual apple cable that comes with the iphone.

Also make sure you have no lint on your phone’s lighting port.

Using apple’s cable makes sense, but the lint part is interesting. I will admit my charging port gets quite dusty, as I use a case without a charging port cover, but when the skipping issue has occurred, even after unplugging/re-fitting the charging cable, the skipping persisted. Wouldn’t think it’s related to a poor contact if multiple unplugs doesn’t fix the issue.

What audio skipping are you getting? From songs downloaded on your phone or from streaming music apps? The issue I had was from Youtube music and Amazon Music . Songs would pause themselves.

The issue I had was with downloaded music (inside Apple Music). Songs would skip, but not pause. Just miss out on part of the track, kinda like the connection was interrupted.

Report back after trying the Apple cable. The cable I had issues with is also aftermarket. But it hasn’t given me any issues in a while.

The Apple cord seems to be working ok the last few drives. I’ll update here if the issue happens again. Thanks!

i bought an official Apple cable. it does seem more stable as far as holding the signal generally. but then yesterday i got the stuttering thing again and there wasn't a thing i could do about it for an hour or so. then it went away again.

So i fixed this problem a few months ago. Listen up folks. It's not the cable, it's not your phone. It's not bad wiring in the truck. It's not any mod you did that fucked it up.

It's the headunit running too much shit. The CPU is lagging, and that is causing the skipping.

Go into the headunit settings, turn off automatic updates, turn off wifi, and any other settings you don't need.

    Enjoy glorious uninterrupted playback.

edit: this fixes playback skipping for both Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
