    Simple question:

Do i need some type of carpet glue or spray adhesive to install a stock interior molded carpet or can i just cut and reinstall everything?

Is there anything else I should consider using/doing while the interior is stripped? I had to heat gun off the old sound dampening due to the fact that it melted everywhere (noico brand). That took too long to mention.

    Thanks all!

No glue. The parts installed over the carpet hold it in place.

I am concerned about putting more sound dampening in after the horrible experience of getting off the old stuff. I think asphalt based sound dampening is something to stay away from.

    No glue, got it!

    Thanks guys!

Did you already order new carpet? You can get an ACC kit with dampening attached.

The kit at the very least should come with under carpet insulation.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience with sound proofing and honestly, I don't know much about a Gen-1 to be able to offer much. Also, I understand depending on what kind of driving you sound proofing may not be important to you.

What I will tell you though is sound proofing the cabin of my Gen-2 made a huge difference in my truck. I didn't realize how much road noise is present in the cabin of my Gen-2 DCSB. The entire vehicle feels and sounds different. The impression it leaves you with is of a solid and quiet truck.

I used Dynamat to insulate the floor, doors, roof, and side walls. The only thing I did not do a lot of work on was the firewall. Good luck with whatever you go with.

BTW... if you cared enough to replace the carpet and pull the interior out to begin with, my guess is you are going to be very pleased with the end result, even if doing it sucked!

I actually did order a molded carpet from stock interiors with mass backing. I also just redid the headliner (F that). I am going to install some dynamat and dynaliner, though I am a bit worried about another melting issue. Driving without the dampening a few times has been horribly loud.

I have the ACC Essex kit with mass backing and no complaints. Only issue is it is very thick, so even if I wanted to put extra deadener onto the floorpan I don't think it would be a good idea. If I were going that route I'd do a thinner carpet kit. (Some trim pieces don't like super thick flooring it seems)
If I deaden anything it'll be the doors, back of cab and roof, but I'm good with the kit for the flooring.
