Carpet in camper...good or bad

I'm about to order a leer XR camper. Should I get the carpet lining? Is the carpet just for aesthetics or does it serve another purpose? Dead animals will find there way back there, so I'm wondering if it will absorb orders or degrade overtime. I'll have this truck for a very long time, so I need to make the right decision.

I have carpet in my ARE MX shell. I too have had dead animals back there multiple times.

I've never had an issue with smell. Crack the windows a bit ( I live in Arizona).

I like carpet. It insulates a bit (both from heat and cold and a little sound). I've found if you get it really wet and don't dry it it can flake a bit. Overall it's pretty durable.

I'd get it , if it were me. I've been driving Tacomas for 20 years. Always a shell , always carpet.

Something to think about. I tried to have carpet installed in my Leer, and the dealer said it can't be done after it's already put together. It's done in the factory. So if you think you may want it down the road, you're better off just getting it right now anyways.

I have carpet in my SnugTop. I bought the truck like that but if it were up to me, I'd probably do it again...

 

A carpeted roof is a must have in a fiberglass shell in my opinion. If you have to crawl around in there alot your going to scrape your head and pull your hair in the fiberglass... not fun.

 

Get carpet

You won't regret it

 

If you sleep in your camper, carpet is essential. On a cold winter night condensation will leave you dripping wet without it.

 

Get it with carpet, you wont regret the decision.

 

Get it. I love it in my are cap. Looks so much nicer than bare fiberglass.

 

It's not like carpet in your house. It can be soaped and scrubbed with a brush and hosed out if you want. Dries quickly. I also agree that it provides an additional layer of insulation (warmer in winter, cooler in summer) and sound proofing. Leer 100XR owner.
