    Compadres! I need your help.

I saw already that there is a "Dome Light Won't Turn Off" thread, but for me it's my cargo light located on the exterior of the truck above my rear window.

A year ago or so, I added bed lights which I tapped into the cargo lights so that they would turn on and off with a factory switch. They have worked in tandem flawlessly the entire time. . . until recently. For some unknown reason, my cargo light no longer responds to the factory switch. both my cargo light and my added bed lights actually just stay on no matter what I do.

The only thing that I can think of that may have affected my cargo light is that I recently hooked up under body lights that dim on and off with the dome lights. I tapped some wires in my A-Pillar, and even now the added underbody lights and the dome lights are still functioning properly. They dim on and off with the key fob, and even if I walk up close to the driver door.

I was under the assumption that the cargo light was somehow separate from the dome lights, but now I am not so sure. Can anyone shed any light on this? (pun unfortunately intended).

Anyone have the same issue with the cargo light?

I don't know too much snout electrical, but it sounds like your switch may be broken. The switch functions to close the circuit so that the electronics can work. It sounds like your circuit is always closed. Or you've got some wiring issues somewhere that allows for the circuit to close without the switch. @ilubtimmyhos or @Arcticelf may have better answers for you.

But like the first poster said, you may want to have the kids swotch this to the correct subsection. I think you'll get more answers there.

You may have fried your switch. Did you use a relay for your bed lights? If it has too much current draw over what the switch was designed for, then it probably got damaged. I did that on my Frontier. Learned the hard way.

Disconnect the switch. Do the lights go out?

When you connect the disconnected wires, do the lights work properly? (ie, like they did when you used the switch?)

If so, as @TacoTruck808 suggests, you may have a bad switch. If the switch has failed, you need to rewire your bedlights.

Shoot! I thought this post was just in the third gen section. Didn't realize I was in the market place.

    Thanks for the responses everyone!

@tcBob Can you move this thread to the main 3rd gen section?

The lights turned off when I disconnected the switch. I think I will run a relay between the lights and the switch. Now I just have to figure out the wiring. Thanks gents!
