For OEM roof rack which cargo basket fits the best?

    1. Thule
    2. Yakima
    3. Bajarack

I would love the Bajarack but it's so expensive. I've read fitting issues with the Thule and Yakima. If it doesn't fit properly the first time I put it on and need to drill here or cut there that is a NO Go.

Help find me a cargo basket with this in mind:
    1. Affordable < $350
    2. Fits exactly the OEM roof rack
    3. Can hold a 15" spare and a couple of gas cans

    Thanks

Have you thought about mounting the basket in the bed, using my brackets?

Lots of guys are doing it that way. It's way easier to load and unload the basket.

I have a Leer so I can't do it. I might just go all in a buy the Baja rack and save the fit headache of other brands

I just bought this one bc of the price

    http://www.discountramps.com/roof-luggage-rack/p/RBC-6245HD/

It comes in Monday and I'm putting them on my OEM roof rack. It's similar in size to the Yakima megawarrior (and bigger than the Thule MOAB rack). I like how this one has a more angled fairing than both the Yakima and Thule.

If you can wait out until Monday I can give you a fair review.

If you have the funds, get the Baja Rack. By the time you get supports, cross bars, and deflector, you're going to be spending a good amount of money anyway. Not the $700 you'll pay for the Baja with shipping, but it's well worth the extra $.

The Baja is big and can hold 200 lbs. That's what it's rated for anyway. I would not hesitate to put more on though. It's VERY sturdy. You can shake the entire truck with it and it will not budge at all.

Like I said above, it's also bigger. It covers the entire Double Cab roof. If you're looking for a roof basket to put stuff on, get the one that you can put the most stuff on!

Also, It will sit lower on your roof than cross bars and a basket. For me, it's the difference between parking in the garage or not...

That's my opinion anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sorry, I just realized that you're looking to put it on the OEM roof rack. I missed that the first time. I bought the OEM roof rack first. I opened it and promptly sold it. It seemed very weak to me.

That, and the pics I found on here of the OEM rack bending. Just a thought if you're planning to put a tire and gas cans up there.

Well, I guess you get what you pay for LOL

The basket is a little on the cheap side, but I'm going to keep it. It's a little thin, but it's really noticeable compared to my BAMF bed rack. And it came in gloss, which makes it look even cheaper. I'll be repainting it with bedliner to give it a better look, and it'll match better with my bed rack. Oh and the hardware it came with won't work with the OEM roof rack because the u-bolts aren't long enough to clear the rails. I went to Lowes and got some 3" u-bolts (I actually had to cut the u-bolts because they were too long, then I flipped them upside down from the picture below, so that the threads were facing downward)

On the other hand, the height is perfect for me because it lines up with my RTT, so the fairing on the basket has dual purpose.

I looked it up and it looks like a good deal. Could you post a review of it when you have it installed?

Only basket I've ever used is a Load Warrior from Yakima. Yakima makes quality stuff and I've never had a issue with anything from them. Not saying the others are bad at all. I've just never used them because I know Yakima is good.

Rola all the way! I have one, and my buddy got one after he saw mine. It's ni e and sturdy and there's an extension to it. It comes in two pieces so I'd recommend you use thread locker or even spot weld it so it never comes apart. Also, be aware that the OEM rack has a low weight capacity. The rack, a full size spare and some fuel can add up quickly.

So to confirm, the Rola without extension will fit the OEM rack, right?

I did my homework and checked but I want some re assurance.

To be honest, I cant remember installing the basket on the OEM cross bars. What I did was use the OEM side rails with Yakima feet and cross bars. It wasn't what I wanted to do but the OEM cross bars didn't convince me. The whole basket on the roof was just too much for me, it was noisy,a pain to load/unload and was stupid high. The Bajarack, the Frontrunner and some guy (Prinsu?) here selling his custom one is a better choice for weight and overall just a better rack.
