I guess it’d be good to save weight up front if you have a big heavy bumper? :notsure:

If it's quality, I like. Our trucks are over weight for the engine as it is. Shaving a few pounds on the hood in exchange for adding a few pounds elsewhere for other mods makes sense.

Didn’t know they still made these, damn. I’ve never seen any benefit to spending extra money on these things, unless you have a track/drag car and every pound counts. I’d want to have a metal hood in the case of an accident. Not to mention the maintenance too, they don’t seem to hold up very well long term to the elements.

I had a carbon hood years ago on a scion and I did have to polish it fairly often to get rid of swirl marks. Hood looked amazing though on a white car. Glad I went with the white and black theme this time as well. Definitely getting me one of these.

Doubt it. I looked around. The largest pre-cut decal, which didn’t go all the way to those ridges on the central section of the hood was $80...plus the cost of having it installed.

This guy charged me $175 for the material + the labor for a larger, custom fit decal.

I had this same design on my truck already. Took it off cause I didn’t like it. Dealer who installed it didn’t even charge me because he took twice as long as he said he would and wasn’t happy with his install.

I’d like to do the carbon hood and wrap the roof. I’m going for the clean sport look anyways so I think it’ll work.

No issue with the CF hood I had on my s2000, was used when I got it, kept wax on it and sold it after it was 5+ years old and it looked new.

The metal hood isn't going to make a difference in an accident over CF, the fenders and framing in the bay provide the major resistance up front. I could see some benefit to this as my old hood weighed <20lbs. The stock hood on our truck is easily in the neighborhood of 40-50 lbs, possibly more. Its a small difference but it would help offset a bumper.

I only care because I wanted to put a sport hood on my OR and didn't want to deal with paint so I was considering wrapping it black. Now I have an idea what that would look like. I doubt this hood will be cheaper than the OEM so I doubt Ill ever look at it for purchase.

Carbon fiber and other composites have been used for decades by Nascar and other competitive racing. If the quality is good then this should be a great option for those wanting the Pro/Sport hood. Should be extremely light.

I'd love to offset some armor elsewhere. I bought to lightest reasonable wheels I could find (Konig countersteer type x) though I can't escape tire weight other than getting load C. I'd get this hood for the weight saving, but I'd prefer no scoop, or some functional heat extractor vents.
