    Hello,

I am having issues with the electronics on my 2007 regular cab, 2.7l.

Dad suggested that a lot of older engines have non-efi parts available, just have to swap on. Like an old fashioned carb and such.

Anyone know of anything like that out there?

    Thanks,

    David

Your best option is finding an 83 Hilux with a 22R engine!

And then you get to deal with vapor lock problems because of where the carb mounts the exhaust heat boils the fuel in the bowl.

You'd need to custom make an intake manifold, that alone would make it near impossible for a standard DIY'er.

I'd suggest either getting your Tanoma's issues fixed. Or find an older truck that came originally with a carburetor.
The conversion would be an absolute nightmare, and would be costly to fabricate the parts needed to even attempt.

I have better ideas, we all know how good the 1GR is, especially how much better it is than the 2GR so...

EFI has been around for such a long time that nobody should be asking if an EFI engine can be converted to a carb.

But even in the carb days, there were plenty of shade tree mechanics with stubby gorilla fingers who had no business working on them.

    Fix your EFI.

What kind of problems are you having? I'm sure someone here can help you figure it out, our engine control systems aren't overly complicated.

If someone were savvy enough to swap to a carb they wouldn’t be posting on a forum asking about it.

Buy an old mechanically injected diesel truck like the 12 valve Cummins. No ECU to worry about.

Mods are currently being changed .....
Meanwhile, everyone who owns originally carbureted motors are buying Sniper kits to retrofit an EFI lol

My '49 chevy w/ a 350 was carb'd and I yearned for modern engineering again. I think it's fun if you grew up in that era and that's what you know how to work on. But these days, pretty much everyone grew up on fi motors and there's no reason to go backwards in this particular application.
