Can you still take your truck through a car wash with ditch light?

My dealer normally provides complementary car washes when you have your truck serviced. However they expressed concern that the ditch lights might be a problem.

Anyone with ditch lights take their trucks through a car wash? Have you had any issues?

Always hand wash. You’ve got 30 minutes.

Ive been going through a wash with my ditch lights for months, its fine. If you cant drive in the rain, you cant use a car wash.

Zero need to hand wash. However! I added heat shrink to cover all of my connections, including where the power plugs into my lights. I can post a photo if you want.

Use a “no-touch” car wash and it won’t be a problem.

Their concern is the poly-foam car wash roller brushes snagging on the light pods. And damaging the brushes or the lights. Water penetration isn’t a concern.

The dealer doesn’t offer complimentary hand washing.

Are your ditch lights spring mounted?

If not, then the risk of rotary brushes removing the ditch lights is real.

I'm reasonably sure the dealer doesn't want the responsibility of your add-on ditch lights being damaged in their car wash.

It should not be a problem in any car wash. Roof-mounted lightbars are not recommended though

If my dealer ‘offered’ to take my truck through an auto car wash that would be the last time they got the keys..

I don’t even let the lot monkeys wash it at the wand/brush car wash..

Car washes with the giant brushes may damage something.

touch free car wash is the way to go!

The truck is so rugged it can go almost anywhere, except through an automated car wash.

I sure as hell wouldn't take my truck with ditch lights through and auto wash with rollers. I wouldn't take it in one anyway, as I do it myself

You must not live where it snows. In NW Montana, you run it through the wash and do quick touch ups because on the drive home it's trashed again. Same for summers. The bugs and dust are so bad. I spend a lot of time detailing even in winter, but there is a point where it's just a waste of time.

I would never go through a car wash that's not touch less in the first place and certainly not with ditch lights or other expensive add ons. Touchless FTW

I mean it's a free car wash, who cares? If you care that much then unbolt and stash the ditch lights in the engine bay before you go otherwise spend the $5 to wash it yourself.

I’ve taken mine through one once with no issues, it’s not worth the money and doesn’t even get it clean though. Here’s a picture of mine for reference, I’d think you would be fine.AA1ACC20-2E67-4004-90E6-4470235C485A.jpg
