So how many of you guys have put child car seats in the 2016 DCSB? I'm sold on buying a Tacoma, but my wife is worried about the back seat space and wants me to go bigger (which I really don't want). Can anyone who has put 2 car seats in the back tell me if there's enough room for a mom to squeeze back there too? Are there any tricks to setting up the seats so everyone can fit? I have a full size Britax for the 2-year-old and a convertible infant Britax. There doesn't need to be a ton of room, just enough for my wife to get both cheeks on the seat and then breathe, in case she needs to hop back and help a kid out.

Forward facing seats will fit alright, rear facing will be really tight (but they're only in those for a short time!). They'll probably fit but it will be tight.

And whether or not your wife fits back there at the same time is ...... how do I put this ..... going to depending on her! ;)

I have one car seat in the back, right behind the driver's seat, so I can fold the other 2/3 of the seat down to put bike crap in there. Extrapolating from this, you can put another car seat on the passenger side, and still fit a slender person in the middle seat.

Sorry for the crummy pic, but I think you get the idea.

I have test fit 3 child seats in the back at the dealer twice (once to check, and prior to ordering to make sure). A infant seat, forward facing convertible, and booster seat for my kids. Depending on her size she may be able to fit. My wife is 5'4" 125lbs and would fit fine. All my kids seats are about 18" wide. I would recommend she sits on one of the sides though. Climbing into the middle seat may be a PIA. This guide may help pick new seats if you want to go that route.

Edit: We have a maxi-cosi mico infant seat, britax boulevard convertible, but not sure on the booster brand or model. We bought a Clek Filo to replace the Britax, since it is narrower width overall. But it can work with the Britax also since the base is just as narrow as the Clek (although the hip area of the Britax is wider). These seats also fit in a Camry hybrid.

I have a full seat for my son and a booster for my daughter currently in my 2016 TRD off road double cab.. I have had 2 full size Graco seats with no problems in my 2013 SR5 double cab. Depending on your wife's size (not judging)it's doable.

From what I see... there are only 2 connection points for those seats... 1 on each side... none in the middle... your wife could not get in there between them... Good luck..

Not an issue. My kids are 3 & 7 so one in a booster, one in a full blown car seat. I think there is a shade more room in the 2016 (had an 08 previous) My wife can defn get in the middle without too much trouble shes about 5'5 115 - it's tight for sure and I've done it too - I'm about 5'9 180 and it's not comfy but doable.

I have a front facing and a rear facing car seat. The rear facing is a bit cramp but is doable. I put the stroller and such in the bed when we need it since i have the factory cover.

    For reference I am 5 10

OOPs, I messed up... there are 3 connection points in the rear... I just tore the stuff off the rear cab today to soundproof it and there are 3 hooks there... So, your wifey could sit on the left and the 2 kids on the right...

I have my son's carseat in the middle, and my wife usually sits on the passenger's side next to that. It's do-able

I have a booster with the back and a forward facing car seat, and my wife is small and she can seat in the middle, but is tight and not very comfy. Maybe just for a 5-10 min. trip to the market.

Thanks for you guys' feedback. We went to the dealer and tested it out today with the large toddler seat on the side and the infant seat in the middle. My wife sat on the other side and was very comfortable, cozy of course, but she said she'd be totally fine on a 2-3 hour road trip back there. The key for us is that our Outback has deep bucket seats in the back, but the Tacoma back seats are flatter, so we can push the toddler seat closer to the door without touching it. Long story short, the wife is on board with a new Tacoma!

I think it boils down to how fat is your wife's ass.

After you get back from checking that (post pics!), I think you'll find it is OK. My 2015 DCLB, which I believe is basically the exact same back there, fit a rear-facing Chicco Keyfit 30 fine, and this seat is among the smallest availble. Britax B Safe RF was a bit bigger and heavier, so we chose the Chicco. I have it in the center now, and an adult could sit fine on either side for the infant seat. I understand you have different kid seats, but I hope this helps.

That was a big issue for a coworker. He saw I was getting a 16 Taco and he was looking. He has a newborn coming soon so this was a big issue when purchasing. Apparently it did not afford him the room required and he ended up buying a 15 Z71 Colorado because it apparently had a little more room in the back. So if you can make it work for you then Kudo's.

Didn't get pics today because my insane 2-year-old needed a change of scenery. As soon as I bring the Taco home, I'll post pics of my setup.
