I have a car seat behind the passenger seat. It doesn't leave much room for the person in the front. Are there any other positions blessed by toyota for example using the car seat with the backrest folded down?

These seating arrangements worked for me in a double cab. I placed an Infant carseat with a base in the middle. Same with a rear facing convertible. Once they are forward facing typical after 2 years old I placed them behind the passenger seat

Get a diono radian and angle adjuster for rear facing. Put it in the middle or behind the driver seat if you are comfortable sitting a little closer. I’m 6’ and it fits behind me on the driver side.

    Without a 2nd rider - you don’t have to worry about 3rd or 4th ;)

haul children in the bed and tell them to hang on. They'll have enough room to lay down too. Win win for the driver and passengers.

Hmm, that might work for me. I’d be curious how far back you adjust the seat...

Yea I’ve removed it once when I had it on the other side and it was pretty bad. Since I’ve moved it to the driver side though the passenger rear seat seems to have gone back to normal!

I have found with my 21 doublecab that I have to place our carseat in the middle, otherwise it leaves no room at all in either of the front seats

    OP,

According to the Mayo Clinic, "If you're placing only one car seat in the back seat, install it in the center of the seat — if a good fit is possible. Placing the car seat in the center minimizes the risk of injury during a crash."

We have a monster of a kid. Seriously. Always put the car seat in the middle of the back seat. My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that that is the safest place. Should also free up room for the front and passenger seat to move back.

I also second the choice of the Diono ... had one for years and it is the best, low profile seat on the market. But any rated and certified car seat will do in the middle of the back seat.

Good luck! Of course, no amount of proper seat positioning will reduce the amount of flying good, crumbs, banana peels, goldfish and you name it. It does help to have a dog in the back seat for proper "hoovering."

and this is why if I had a family would not have a small truck like a Tacoma. Fits my needs for now but my f150 was a lot more accommodating for that purpose

Yeah I definitely agree. I am loving my tacoma for now as my daughter is only 3 months old, but I think once she gets older and we have more kids I will probably trade in the tacoma for a tundra. good thing these things hold their value so well, itll be nice when it comes time to sell it.

Exactly! I can resell this with not that much loss and fits my needs now. But that full size has so much more room in the back for any activity or child placement
