I am only 45 minutes from the cap so I am headed up to measure it later. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this compatability. I just spent two hours reading everything I can find. Looks pretty close. Thanks!!

Unless you're getting it for like $10, I'd skip it. I'm betting even if the dimensions are similar, the shape is different and will always look funny.

I would hold out for one that's actually for a Taco.

The bed is the same, just not sure about the slope of the front. As long as you are aware, who gives a rip. Use it and abuse it.

I'm heading up today after confirming dimensions with the owner yesterday late in the day. I've wrangled a buddy and we'll be up there at 5:00 tonight. I really think it is going to fit. But I'm prepared for it to not fit! Asking $125. I can't tell what brand it is as it may be 20 years old. It has a single center latch for the rear window. It looks a lot like a Leer 122 or a Pro Top HR300 but without dual rear latches. I don't actually know that much about these other than I am very willing to go used! I take great care of the truck but I have a very strict rule about the budget! Function over form as long as it's not too ugly! And when my son turns 16 I'm giving him the truck so there's that.

I take it that's your son in your avatar?

Mine likes to help too, but I'll be damned if he's getting my truck when he's 16. But I'll help him buy his own... :)

Yup that was in 2015 when we bought it in Florida. He's 10 and a half now so I still have a few more years! I'm probably going to jump up to a used 3rd gen when I hand him the keys to the '99. Your helper looks pretty handy too!

I did the opposite once, got a camper shell from a Tacoma and put it on my old Ranger. It 'fit' but it looked off, especially where it met the cab. Worked fine, though, and I got it for cheap, $40 or something. It was on the truck when I rolled it.

I would not be afraid to low ball the seller.

He doesn't have many people in line to bid on the thing.

You may be his last resort to get rid of the cap.

I bought it for $90. It's a wee bit short. As in like half an inch. I'm going to put a piece of aluminum angle iron on the front of the cap so that it will land on the front rail of the bed and the back will align properly with the tailgate. Screens are good, sliding windows work. It has the front double slider that matches my truck rear window slider. It needs one little bit of fiberglass touch up. Going to clean it this weekend and mount it back on with a new foam gasket. Then I get to sleep in it at the fair in a couple weeks. It solves a problem and it was pretty inexpensive. No idea on the manufacturer! Got a quote on a "cheap" cap today of $1400. I think I'll wait and get a nice new cap on my 2017 off road when I buy that used in 2023. Thanks to all who chimed it!

He's got little hands, which make putting that upper steering rack bolt in much easier... :)

For all I know, the boy might get my '17 4Runner (he's 8 now).

After buying a new cap I would have jumped on a close fit for a price close to that !
