I have an older model LEER cap, not sure of what the exact model is. Does anyone know what is typically the thickness of fiberglass they use for these caps? The reason i ask is i want to mount some cargo nets to the roof of the cap for some additional storage and i want to make sure i do not bust through the other side.

 You can easily tell how thick it is just looking at it near the door or windows; I'd be surprised if it's 1/4" anywhere other than the bottom mounting edge and the reinforced thicker section in the middle of the roof but that's generally just a honeycomb cardboard panel in it.

You'll drill through anywhere other than that reinforced section and unless you shoot some epoxy or similar into the hole I doubt you're going to get much purchase with tiny screws, certainly not enough to carry enough weight to make it worthwhile. If you've got carpet you could try Velcro but almost every net I've seen incorporated the bolts from the rooftop tracks/roof rack.

Thats what i wasnt sure of, if the fiberglass got any thicker as a reinforcement or something up along the top. I wasnt sure if the profile was pretty consistent from checking the thickness at the windows/door. I might try some velcro, it is carpeted. I'll try some velcro and load it up with some bungees and light stuff like that and see how it holds up.

It should be obvious if it has the thicker panel in the roof. I posted a picture from ARE's website and you can see the section. I can't recall seeing them in older shells but I'm not sure when manufacturers started adding them; it helps keep the roof from flexing/vibrating. Most of your lower end caps seem to be missing it as well.

The Velcro should work for light stuff but lots of folks report that their carpet starts pulling loose over time even with nothing attached. The glue seems to dry out and not hold well. I know mine is starting to pull loose in the corners.

You can drill through the fiberglass, just be sure that you seal it. Another option may be to attach fasteners to the window frames. You could also remove sections of the carpet and fiberglass fasteners on.

See the square section in the top? It's outlined by the shadows.

Oh i like that. I'm going through your build thread right now. How did you secure the clips? those would work for me, i have a few OEM acura trunk nets that i planned on using.

Ah i see, that makes sense. Thats a little harder to spot when its covered in carpet lol

Used the existing bolts that go through the cap to secure the d-rings I purchased:
