Can anyone give me their opinion on the canvas (soft-top) camper shells/tops? Durability, water tightness, driving drag (reduce fuel mileage), ect...
I do not like the look of the fiberglass ones and I like the idea of having the ability to drop the canvas ones down if you need to use the bed to haul a four wheeler. Can someone give me their experience with them?

I have had one for about 6 years. I've never tried to make mine completely water proof. I can drive through a car wash and have no water in the bed. If I drive through rain storm, I occasionally get a trickle from the left front corner. It is easy to keep looking newish by using convertible top cleaner. I recently noticed a very small hole in it that I suspect happened when I used it to move my daughter into the house she bought. I was able repair it from the inside with a small piece of Tear-Aide with 100% success.

Bought a Softtopper just before Hurricane Matthew hit NC. Was parked right next to the beach when the eye went right over us. Had several boxes in the truck for storage. Went out the next morning and found the top undamaged and not a drop of water in the bed of the truck. Have not noticed any drag problem or loss of gas milage. So far so good.

I like mine a lot. Have had it about 8 months. I get a little water in both front corners in a heavy rain or when power washing the truck. Just haven't caulked the corners yet.
Seems to be good material so far through the summer, winter, and trail rides with small branches dragging on it. Haven't noticed any mpg drop and it holds up good to at least 100 mph.. :burnrubber:

I like my softopper. Keeps my stuff dry, cheaper & lighter than fiberglass. Looks awesome with the sides rolled up.

I love mine. I've had it about two months now, and couldn't be happier. I haven't bothered to seal my Softopper with the sealant they included yet, but somehow manage to not get water in the bed when at the car wash.

I haven't bothered to check MPG, but I highly doubt it's lower. It has also noticeably reduced road noise coming from wind passing over/around the vehicle and into the bed of the truck.

My only "complaint" would be that I can't roll up the rear window when it's below ~40F degrees (or shouldn't, as recommended by Softopper, since the vinyl window can crack). This is largely a nonissue, as long as you plan ahead. And even if you do need to get in the back of the truck in cold temps, it's easy enough to just drape the entire rear window flap over the top of the topper while accessing your bed.

Softopper owner for over 3 years, still looks great. I do want to clean it and treat it with something soon. I had a little water come in through the front corners but fixed it by installing my rails a little closer to the cab. The most noticeable aging is in the clasps, but everything's still functional. I did apply Seam Seal the day I had it installed and have never had leaks from the seams. Use a little paintbrush if you do this, as the applicator brush is meant to be held upside down.

Yeah, the posts about the rear window in the cold had me wondering. Left the truck out when it was high 20's low 30's over night seemed ok to roll up. I'm sure 0 is a different story. My biggest complaint would be the back flaps could get stuck under tailgate when you close it. If I get 3 to 5 years out of mine it's $$$ well spent.
