Been fighting this for roughly 2wks, got in the truck one Monday morning to leave for work - got about 3miles from home and the motor kinda cut out and the CEL came on. Motor was missing and down on power, I used a pocket scanner to pull the code and it came back P0325. I took it to a mechanic and had him check all the connections and wires. He said everything looked fine, so I bought a new knock sensor from rock auto. Took it back to the mechanic and he replaced the sensor, when I picked up the truck he said he tested the old sensor with an ohm meter and it tested open (bad). Drove the truck about 10miles and the CEL came on again (same code), called another guy I know that's good with Tacoma's and he said to unhook the battery and turn the headlights on for 10mins then hook everything back up. Did that and the CEL was gone, drove the truck about 8miles - no CEL. So I thought I had it fixed....wrong. So I get in it yesterday morning to leave for work and the battery is dead, turn the key it won't even click. No I didn't leave the head lights on. So at lunch I went and bought a new battery and put it on last night. Drove the truck about 10miles this morning and boom CEL comes on again. At this point I'm lost.

    95.5 2.7L 4wd BTW.

Remember it is the whole knock sensor circuit not just the sensor.

These are pretty simple sensors perhaps you just had bad luck and got a bad one.

So your buddy told you to disconnect your battery, beacause all this does is re-set your computer and momentarilly erases any existing codes...obviously if whatever is still bad then the code will pop again. When i bought my truck i had the same knock sensor issue....if you didnt change the wire harness as well, I can almost gurantee that is your issue as the wire harness is in an area of EXTREME heat and after 15 years I am sure yours is brittle as mine was and the wires in the harness are probably cracked....but if you changed the harness with the knock sensor than i apologize for this lengthy resonse :D oops just saw 2.7L so may not be the same.

But an oem knock sensor. I know they are expensive but it will get rid of you light. Of possibly get one of a junkyard motor to save some money as the sensors rarely go bad.

Used a matco hand held thing last night to turn the light off again and so far so good. I've driven it about 20miles with the light staying off, thus far that's the longest I've driven it w/o the light coming on. Thanks for tip on the junk yard sensor, I live pretty close to a Toyota junk yard I may go up there this week.
