I saw a link within a link somewhere on here of a guy shifting into reverse while driving and seeing his rear camera screen. Supposedly it puts the truck in neutral. I'm not going to try it yet. Is this for real? I have a MT. Without adding a kit to rewire this (which I have no knowledge or real need for).

If anyone knows, just wondering, could you clarify this "quirk".

    Thanks

I'm not looking for a solution...just want to know if this is true? Seems unlikely to me.

This is what I’m using. Uses steering wheel controls. Allows you to toggle between front and rear camera at any time.

I am curious how long you have been driving a manual vehicle? There is no quirk. If you could even get the transmission into reverse while driving forward the damage you would inflict on the driveline would be amazing! There definitely is no video of this. If you want the rear view camera on while driving forward, then as mentioned prior it requires rewiring.

I think he wants to know if it is possible to temporarily throw the truck in reverse at highway speeds to see if the camera comes on. The general consensus is that he should try it. :taco:

That is an auto transmission truck. The electronics of the transmission will hopefully prevent it from going into reverse. You have a manual. When you shift the gear shifter, you are physically shifting the gears inside the transmission, there are no electronics to protect the transmission.

unfortunately no not with the manual is the answer you’re looking for.
    Automatic yes. Manual no.
Unless you buy an aftermarket kit.
