Im going to change oil a little early as I am the new owner of the truck. When I change the oil is it possible to reset the light so it wont start flashing at start up at the 4500 mile mark on the previous oil change?

    thanks

Asking if you can set it so the maintenance reminder goes off whenever you want it to as opposed to the 4,500 mark or whatever it is that they set it to at the factory.

I know how to reset, instructions are in the manual.

Can you reset the light before its starts the flashing at the 4500 mile mark on the last oil change that it was reset on? So when i change oil at 4k on current oil and reset the light it will not flash till the 4500 mile mark on my oil change.

Maybe a simpler question, Can you only reset the light when it starts flashing at 4500 mile mark on oil at start up?

Yeah, cause once you reset it, it won't start flashing again until the 4500 mile mark.

So you can reset it anytime you want

No, you can reset it anytime.

I change the oil every 5K miles or 6 months, whichever occurs first. Last oil change I had only 4K miles at 6 months, and was able to reset the maintenance indicator to start another 5K cycle at that point.

Are we saying you can program it to go off at any mileage you want it to? Resetting it at anytime and programing it for a specific mileage are two different things.

No, just saying that if you reset it early ( before it starts flashing/ lit all the time), once reset it starts a new cycle and won't start flashing again until the 4500 mile mark. Wasn't aware and don't believe you can program it to go off at whatever mileage interval you want it to.

I think you misunderstood his post (poor wording). He was asking if you can reset the light early, not if you can change the interval. I'm guessing changing the interval would require a reflash or otherwise noodling with the ECU, but why would anyone want to do that? :notsure:
