I have a 2020 Tacoma I put it through more mud holes stock than I see most people with nice builds, I am currently on 30” tires and they’ve finally gone out so I was curious cause I’ve seen around that you can fit 255/85/R16 on a stock Tacoma but all threads I find are Trd off roads and pros. Curious if this is true for Sr5? Any help appreciated!

No 265/75r16 is the largest tire for stock taco. They are 31.6 tall. The 255/85's are 33 inches tall. They will not fit stock setup.

Except for all the people who are running 255s on stock suspension without rubbing. It takes the stock OR wheels (or other wheels with the same +25mm offset) to make it work. I believe the SR5 wheels are also 25mm, but someone with an SR5 should confirm that.

Too late but I appreciate it! I’m putting them on Tuesday I’ll let you know if they fit or not.

The stock tires are 30.5”-30.6” which is typically rounded up to 31”. All the 3rd gens are the same as far as tire fitment (and many other things) go.

You have to take into account "special" circumstances. The 255 tires are entry level skinnies so "special".

The height is not the only factor. There is the width. The 255's are ~1/2 inch skinnier than the 265's. Thus do not rub while turning.

    255/80 17's

There are 100s of “biggest tire” threads on the web, and many of them are wrong. There are a few long running threads on here with tons of people confirming 255s do fit perfectly as long as they’re on 25mm offset wheels (what the factory OR and SR5s are).

Nope, 255/80/17s or 255/85/16 will fit on a stock setup.
