My isntrument clsuter has been craked for a while now. There is actually dog hair in it. The Check Engine light has been on for 8 years or so, hoping it will brun out

    some questions if y'all please:

Is there a replacement clear plastic cover ?? (doubtful)
will a new/used one be 'plug & play' or will the mileage be goofy??
    part number??

    thanks!!

If your not worried about a check engine light

Get a used cluster and swap the plastic cover .

I don`t have your year cluster at hand but the older ones the plastic is easy to remove.

Uhhhh...if you're not worried about a check engine light, why are you worried about a cracked piece of plastic? :notsure:

    Priorities?

    Ouch...

Some of us just try to offer help; since the code is no big deal, I'd be curious as to what that code is. You know, just for kicks.

If it's no big deal, fix it or don't mention it. Obviously someone is going to be curious why it's on.

Yep, that's what most members aim to do here...especially in the 1st gen section.

    What code anyway? P0420?

I was going to get a new cluster plastic cover from the dealership still available for 125.00 for my year,

because mine was stained with water spots and small scratches.

I took a chance and spent 5.00 on the headlight rubbing compound that cleans the faded headlights
and low and behold it made the plastic lens look like new,

So if you get a used one it can be made to look like new this way

it is. Where I live there a large number of subarus that are straight piped and also diesel rigs. Sometimes around here when you can't afford the $1000 cat converter replacement cost they just cut the shit off. lol

Pretty much how its like in Fall River, Custer and Pennington county. Can't roll into Rapid City without an itty bitty subaru sounding like a monster truck.
