    Hello everyone I’ve been doing a lot of research on wheels and tires and I can’t quite decide what tire size I should get.
    I’m going to installing a 3 inch lift so I need a good sized tire to fit the off-road look.
    The wheels I want are 17x9 with a +12 offset.
    I want bfg ko2 tires but I can’t quite find a right size on their website to fit the wheel I want. The closest size I can to is 285/70R17 however they are meant for 8inch wide wheels. So my question is can a tire that’s meant for 8inch wide wheels fit a 9inch wide wheel? Thanks a lot please don’t be harsh I’m new to the off-road tire game plus this is my first pickup truck.

    I believe most 285's are ok to put on a 9" wide wheel.

    FYI, 285/70/17 means:

    285 = section width in millimeters
    70 = sidewall height (70% × 285mm)
    17 = wheel size in inches

    So, a 285 is approximately 11.22" wide.

    Also, welcome to the madhouse!

    Yes, a 285 can fit on a 9" wheel. In fact its actually the perfect size for the 285 in my opinion.

    I'm not sure where you've been shopping, but I did a bunch of research before I bought my last set of wheels and tires and they were as cheap as anyone. Although, I ended up buying them at my off-road shop because they were able to price match and I prefer to support those guys when I can.

    Welcome to TW!

    Yes, a 285/70R17 will safely work on 7"-10" wide wheels. This wheel and tire combo should work for your setup. We would be happy to help with fitment, pm on the way.

    Thank you @BINK05TRD for the tag
