Just can’t get it lowered. The hook goes in and it spins around and doesn’t move. It’s rusted to shit. Any ideas?

Can you stick your head under the bed and confirm that you did get it hooked? Sometimes thats the hardest part

can you let some air out of the tire and make it "looser".
Then take a big ass pry bar and "flip" the mounting bracket into the center of the wheel?
There is a spring on the mount that should also help you "loosen it more" to pry it over.

Of course, watch out for the falling wheel.

This sounds like a good idea except I don’t have a pry bar. Tire shop said they’d do it for $15 which is the same price as the pry bar

But if you pay them, they'll do it or give your money back. If you buy a pry bar, you might not be able to do it and have to pay them anyhow (and hope they can do it, lol).

    Ehhhhh? What?
My truck uses no such "special tool".
It's just a "slot" all you need is the "hook" end.

I had a friend bend me up one of these to get rid of the multi-piece lowering tool.

I use White Lithium Grease on the chain at least once a year. Good Luck!

    Give them your $15.
    Make "your" problem, "their" problem.

Trust me, it's the stupid stuff like this, that ALWAYS turns into a 3 hour job.
    $15 well spent.

He used this tool from another vehicle. Took all of five minutes. Anyone know which type of vehicle this came from? He didn’t know. The issue was that the Tacoma spare tire tool was rounded off so it was spinning. This one is one piece. I need one! Where can I buy.

It's an available security lock type thing. It's an option that I'm sure cost way more than it is worth.

With the affordability of cordless impact guns. It would be MUCH easier to steal the "better" wheel right off the truck. :anonymous:
I'll pass on the added cost for that "security" feature.

    Glad it worked out!

If that was the first time the spare has been removed, then it makes sense why it was giving you a hard time. I read it happening to a lot of members(including myself) that it takes a bit of extra effort to break it loose. Made a loud ass metal pop sound when I did it. Immediately checked if something broke lol

Me too! Drop them spares occasionally or pay the piper when you need it. It can include a tow to shop for the privilege of the experience.

I would spring for the 15 bucks and have the tire shop do it ~! Ask them to spray the shit with lube on it to.
