    Hello (first post here!)
My sister bought me some beautiful Coverado seat covers for my Tacoma, but they don’t fit as I have the “60/40” front seat design in my ‘98 3.4L V6. I’ve since scoured the internet looking for anything that compares in quality and isn’t a glorified fabric wrap.
    Any ideas?
(also let me know if there’s a better forum category for this, there’s a million of them)

They make great seat covers that fit perfect. Tons of options for colors, piping, seat heaters, you name it. I've had mine on for 10 years or so. They need replaced, but I will absolutely be getting them again.

The price jump from complete crap to "decent" is steep, unfortunately. I found a thread a while back, might have even been from here, linking to these. I bought these. They aren't 60/40, but they fit great. The first link does include a 60/40 option. The quality...is moderate. They look and feel decent quality, fit like OEM, but I've already developed a small tear along a seam on my driver side, one year after install.

Once you get to Carhartt, Wet Okole, and other high quality covers, it gets expensive.

If wanting for the long run, it's cheaper to go "expensive". the $350 I paid was good for probably 7 or so years before starting to degrade. mainly just the piping where I rub on it getting into and out of the cab. Only last year (~9-10 years in) did the passenger seating area develop a tear in the top colored layer of fabric (that covers the neoprene). My wife is pretty sure it's from her jeans with those fake plastic jewels on the rear pockets.

If only planning to keep them shorter term, absolutely those Durafit seem like a good deal hearing that they fit well.

I'll probably bite the bullet and get the nicer seats. I've only got 91k miles on this 5VZ-FE, so I've likely got quite a few years left.

We're saving our pennies to buy replacements with the seat heater inserts. My wife would love that. Sadly all our truck money recently went to new catalytic converters instead...

I just get a great set from Costco.com front and back seats for $349 delivered to my door. Exactly the same as Wet Okole seat covers.

We bought a set for our 2000 Taco and they have been awesome. Not inexpensive but they are good quality and they are hand made in CA, not China, so thats a bonus. Seat covers are certainly a "buy once, cry once" item.

I recently added a seat heater kit that I got for under $50 from China that is supposed to be for a newer Toyota so the switch looks 'correct'. Nice kit. I put the heaters between our seats and the Wet Okole covers and its amazing. Well worth the effort. I can find a link to a similar kit if anyone is interested.

It's worth noting, I think they have 15% off sales about 75% of the year. I'm on their email list, and it's pretty constant lol.

You would be surprised just how much/little an apholstery shop would charge for cloth/vinyl(not leather)
    I would definitely ask\get a quote b4 I dropped $350+

That is a great idea especially if you find the right shop. In my case the seats are almost perfect and I wanted protection and a bit more padding for my ass.

But for seats in questionable condition?

Heck yeah, drive around to local upholstery shops and ask for estimates. It's even worth looking up shops that do furniture upholstery, many of the smaller mom-n-pop shops do custom automotive work. They can crank out killer work quickly and for not as much in labor as you might expect.

    Totally ^^^^^

    tidbit:
A well off neighbor of mine(pre Covid)
Found a new crew cab truck he wanted
    But cloth seats
Dealership said NP, we can add leather option for $2400
    He called me
Referred him to reputable apholstery shop in Houston
He bought the new truck with cloth seats
    Took to apholstery shop
Charged $1400…..for leather….crew cab no less!

    it’s just worth checking out

I checked around locally trying to get an upholstery shop to do my 96. Went so far as asking body shops for references too. Every place I talked to put me off when they heard “96 Tacoma” and would not even give me a ball park quote over the phone. Maybe I just didn’t find the right place. Happy with wetoke. Good luck with your project.
