I have recently been looking at camping setups in the back of trucks. Camping caps, slide out drawers, protection from the elements, it all just looks so nice. Anyway one can swing a setup like this with a short bed?

I'm 5'9 and I could never get comfortable in the back of my shortbed, even laying diagonally.

Solved that problem buy buying a longbed. You might even be too tall for the LB. I see dropped tailgate sleeping in your future. If that's the case, you'll be ok with the short bed anyways.

It's like every other thread I have seen in the past few months is the same topic, same content, just different original posters...

No worries, I'm just seeing trends on here and there seem to be several of the same topics recently that different people have inquired about in separate threads.

Bought tent for the back of my truck from Amazon with the window up and tail gate down. Nice comfy Ikea mattress topper with a zero degree sleeping bag. I used a pop up canopy to act like my little personal shack for shade and the outside elements. Have to say it was a great setup too.

That’s a pretty sweet set up! I actually have an RTT but was inquiring if bed camping was possible because it’s probably a bit more comfortable in the winter. Plus I could sleep more discreetly if I didn’t want to commute back home from work.

Ah I see now. I tried sleeping in the bed with everything closed and I am 5'7" SUPER uncomfortable hence why I went with this setup. If you are okay with sleeping in the fetal position for hours than you ok.

If you put a platform above the wheel wells it increases the floor area significantly on a DCSB. I'm 5'10" and mostly a side-sleeper and have found the bed OK diagonally for occasional sleeping. If I'm solo.
