Is there a camper hard shell with, I dont know the best way to describe this, a convertible top? Like a hard shell with a collapsible/removable/sliding roof? So if you wanted a hard shell camper, but still want the option of hauling something taller than the camper shell.

I have a softopper and love the versatility of it. But was wondering if a hard shell camper existed that had the same versatility as a softopper.

I solved this problem by buying a trailer. I’m not how you would load said tall thing into the back of the truck without hoisting it down through the hole. There is a cool screw jack system that has soft sides that fold out when it lifts the canopy. It only lifts it about 14” though.

Yeah I started thinking about it after I posted. Unless the camper shell door swung out to the left or right, you would have to drop whatever into the truck bed versus sliding it into the bed. No wonder this doesnt exist.....its a terrible idea. Haha. I've seen the topper lift, but my thinking was why buy a camper shell as you lose some functionality of a truck bed.

I rigged up a couple ratchet straps from the rafters in my shop. All I have to do is undo the clamps crank it up an inch and drive off. Probably takes 10 minutes to get it off. For the price of the topper lift you can buy a used trailer off Craigslist.
