So I have a 10 night camping trip coming up, not "overlanding" or whatever you wanna call it. Just normal KOA style campground tent camping. Anywho, aside from the typical beans and hotdog-esque camp meals, I wanna hear your ideas for easy to prepare lunches and dinners. I usually am good with just a granola bar for breakfast so thats covered. Ill have my 2 burner propane stove with a few pots and pans, and a nice skillet to cook with. No skottle or anything fancy, so shrimp fried rice or whatever you make in those things is probably out lol.

Also, I dont really plan on building campfires since I dont plan on hanging around at the campsites for too long at a time, and its gonna be hot as balls in August to be close to a fire lol. Otherwise Id just do hobo packs and be good.

I would do the doomsday prepper food stuff, but I have time to cook actual meals. I may do some of those for lunches however.

I keep a bunch of those freeze dried hiking meals in my camping gear that REI sells, some of them are pretty damn tasty (some are not...)

They can be a little pricey but they're good and they usually come with more than enough for a meal.

I'm not much of a cook at home so when I'm camping I'm even less of one lol. If I do cook something camping it's usually BBQ.

Walking Tacos: Ground Turkey, taco seasoning, Fritos, lettuce, salsa, shredded cheese, sour cream

If you buy individual serving bags of Fritos everyone can just dump the other ingredients into and eat out of their own bags. We made them for my moms birthday a few years ago and everyone loved them. Super easy.

The cost of those freeze dried meals is what makes me not wanna eat any of them. I can cook, and Im planning on quite a few meals out at restaurants so I wanna save money by cooking whenever Im at the campsite. If I was gonna go the freeze dried route, I may as well just eat at a restaurant lol.

Could also be something to make beforehand and just reheat then mix with the fritos. Good idea!

It's more of a convenience thing for me and the fact that when we do long camping trips, my truck is so full of other things it saves a lot of space not having to worry about food ingredients and cookware, let along things that might be perishable...if I had an ARB fridge or something it'd be different

Our new favorite is “taco packets” some ground beef seasoned thrown in a small bag of chips (I like Fritos) with some shredded cheese and hot sauce.

Or foil packets. Usually we do it with shrimp, small corn on the cobs, sausage(bratwurst) potatoes. Wrap it all up in foil bam done.

Im always gonna be near a city, and mostt of the campgrounds have stores on site, so refilling the cooler with ice shouldnt be an issue.

Also gonna tag @BartMaster1234 in here since hes got a trip planned and likes to cook.

If you can bring a cooler and keep the stuff cold, then I'd definitely bring some good eats. Since you won't have a fire maybe some stuff you can stir fry over the stove...veggies and thin slices of meat, sandwich stuff, beer...etc

If it’s shrimp fried rice u want, your skillet will make it as tasty as any “skottle” lol maybe not as much of it

burritos are super good with durable ingredients that can be used for lunches and dinners

Bacon keeps well in the cooler

Pancake mix in the jug and oatmeal packets for breakfast

Steaks and other meats fried in butter in skillet are super easy and delicious

    Pastas

    Rice

    Garlicsaltpepper

    Heavy duty foil

    HOT SAUCE

Anyone who camps needs a food dehydrator and vacuum sealing machine.

Some stuff I usually have on hand portioned and ready to pack:
    Rice
    Lentils/beans
    Mushrooms
    Tomatoes
    Jerky
    Chicken
    Ground beef
    Fruits (whole and blended "bark")
    Tomato sauce
    Shrimp
