For the last year I’ve been camping with the family using a trailer but I think it’s time to get back to more car camping/tip our toes into over landing. We have a small kid to the camper was the best option to get the wife and kid into it, but now I’m ready to go back to more real camping.

wanted a small kitchen but didn’t want something that lives in the bed of my truck. I use my trucks bed a good bit. Came across some plans and modified them a bit so the box will fit under my bed cover. Has enough space for a 2 burner camp stove, various pots and pans, silverware, paper towels, trash bags, basically everything you need. Gonna add a collapsible strainer and wash tub. Will also probably switch to a 12” frying pan and large pan instead of my small back packing set up. Weighs maybe 40-50lbs, but comes out easy enough.

I added an adapter so the stove can run off a full size propane tank that it shares with a joolca (wife needs a hot shower). May look into getting a smaller 5lb refillable tank to save space. Anyways, pretty excited to try it out. Hopefully soon.

need to add some supports to the part that folds down, so I can use it as a cutting board or prep table. Debating adding a strut to the top as well, but for now it was just stuff I found in the garage.

what do you guys think? What would you add? What do you guys run? Show me your set ups, would love to see em.

    Nice build.

Ive got one from many years back that I built when I first started camping. It for sure was the Mk-I. I'll post pictures when I get home.

We used boxes like that for car camping in scouts - one for each patrol. They worked good at keeping everything together and ready to go.

I'm more interested in the artificial turf and that you have your own AED.

Haha. My neighbor staged their porch with turf when they moved. They threw out 2 huge rolls. I swiped it and made a bed mat. Way nicer when you climb in and out. If you drop a nut ir bolt it doesn’t bounce around. I love it. Haha. Got a few pelican cases that used to be aeds and made one into a first aid kit and the other holds a small first aid kit and tie downs and stuff. I have a few more I’m going to list for sale soon. Pelican 1400s.

    I like the setup.

You asked for suggestions - so, have you considered added collapsible legs so it can be freestanding. Another thought would be to add a swing up/out surface for more “counter” space.

I was trying to think up something for legs similar to the drifta kitchen, but couldn’t figure anything out that wouldn’t increase the size by quite a bit. I also didn’t want stuff hanging odd the sides, wanted it as smooth as possibly so it doesn’t get caught on stuff.

I think I thought of a way to use that front panel as a shelf using some t nuts and other bits. Might give that a try eventually. Thanks for the suggestions!

That's a nice Camp Kitchen. Mine is heavy, but we have found it very functional. I started with a 5 drawer tool chest from Harbor Freight. On sale I think it was $150. Cut the stand down and bottom tray to give it support. And added carry handles, a side table (from HF) and magnetic Towel Holders (from HF too), along with magnetic hooks to hold utensils. Fits more than we need for camping supplies. I have my stove and Jet Boil in a separate tote.

I like it. I was thinking of adding some of those magnetic knife holders or just glueing some thin metal to Certain areas so I can hang utensils or stick magnetic lights.

A must-have for anyone in the wild. The wife built this guy for our adventures and it has worked well. Has a slot for a small water container
which is nice so we can easily access some water for a cup of joe on the road. The small coleman burner uses those small gas canisters that
really work well and last quite a while. Originally built to fit into the back of her Forester, it luckily fits like a glove in the back of the Tacoma.

Like all the ideas I see here.

You guys have my gears turning now. Be killer to have a large pelican case (1610/1620 type) with the push-me/pull-me wheels and dedicate it to a similar purpose. Insert and lock in the cubby holes and then just roll it to wherever you want, open the "lid/door" and get cooking. :hungry:
