    image.jpg image.jpg So my wife surprised me with an early Christmas present this year. The CamLocker toolbox I've been wanting to install on my 2nd gen for a lonnnng time now. I'm so excited about it that I installed it as soon as I got home from work. Took some pictures and wanted to share it with y'all. In my opinion this is the best toolbox a Tacoma owner could own.

    Looks nice. Do you trust just 2 "J" bolts though? And for what it's worth, be careful how tight you make it or it will crush and deform the plastic bed rail caps. Especially depending on how much weight you carry in your box. I usually have quite a bit in mine.I didn't realize how bad mine were till I took the box off to put on my Voodoo bed rails.

    I have the J bolts attached to the rails right now. They seem to be really secure and hold the toolbox in place really well.

    Will definitely keep that in mind. I don't have them really tight right now. Just snug to hold the toolbox in place. I do some remodels on the side so I will have a lot of tools in the box that will also help hold it in place.

    The only thing I have left to do is get the dremel and shave down the threads on the J bolts.

    There are also slots in the metal channel that let the J bolt hook the channel completely. Much more secure.:thumbsup:

    Nice box Ryan but it won't be very secure like that. More tools will not make it more secure. With added weight working against the hold downs I've seen boxes slide right down the rails and off. You can get inserts to bolt to the rail. Add a couple to the front rail to secure for g forces during acc.

    That's a great idea. I'll do some research to find these inserts you are talking about. I want to make sure the toolbox is secure and doesn't slide around the bed.

    She had to find a local auto shop that sold these toolboxes and you have to order through them. For some reason you cannot purchase the toolbox from the CamLocker website.

    I just bought the one made for my truck by Toyota. Yes it is more expensive. No drilling. Held in at 4 points all around the rail. Pull the bolts and off it comes.

    It's holding up very well. Still looks and works as if it's brand new. I'm in and out of it several times daily. My truck also sits outside 24/7 and it hasn't faded at all.
