I'm looking for the part number for the connector that attaches to the 3rd gen taco Cam Position Sensor. I believe all the sensors use the same connector.

I have rodent damage and need to replace the connector, I think the sensor is OK. Getting P0348 CEL code and identified the chewed through connector wires.

I believe this is the correct sensor: https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota_2...haft-Position-Sensor/62982484/9091905061.html

Plan is to solder the wires back and wrap in protective sleeve, if that fails I want the OEM connector as backup.

    Greatly appreciate the forums help.

The sensor is the one that sits on top of the engine under the Air Intake Surge Tank for context.

If you remove it and clean it, you might see the 5 digit part# embossed.

I'm not a fan of soldering where vibration is involved. If you are going to splice l'm a big fan of the Raychem Mini-Seal series but the tooling is expensive. After the splice either cover with the included glue lined heat shrink or something similar, I've seen them sold both with and without. They are very low profile.

If you go the connector route you'll either want to buy the connector with pigtails and crimp to it, or bare connector and loose terminals and seals that you'll need to assemble and crimp on your own. The taillights are Sumitomo TS-090 and I don't own the correct tool, tried to improvise with a set of weatherpack die but that wasn't very successful for the receptacle so ended up doing a manual job with some needle nose pliers, icky. I assume the cam position sensor is probably along the same lines.

I appreciate the recommendation on the crimps. I will order a box of these.

It appears from my perspective (that may not be visible from the photo) the wires are chewed almost all the way up to the connector, not leave much room for me to use a crimp. Maybe I could pull the pins out and crimp? I will know for sure when I am able to get to the sensor. It sits in a difficult location. I'm waiting for the gasket for the intake air surge tank since that needs to be removed. But, I would also like to have this connector on stand-by just in case these recommendations fail.

    Much appreciated!

    Thanks mate,

I removed one of the other connectors I could get access to but didn't see a part number printed on it. Maybe it is on the other end? I will double check in the AM.

    I appreciate it!

Before you do you should price out the crimper, I think the 3137CT is the most inexpensive one I've found and it's still $$$.

Called down to dealership. Said there is no part number, but the connector does come with a new sensor. Fingers crossed on repairing the wires, otherwise buying a new sensor just for the damn adapter...

90980-12353 I bet @MGMSangTaco could even tell you where to find a replacement with wires. I ordered one from Corsa-Technic, but these tiny little terminals are a pain to crimp.

I meant to send a follow up on that spark plug thread but been super busy.

Here is the part I ordered off Amazon that worked perfectly for a few weeks until @Puppypunter came and replaced with OEM (thanks again man, you rock!). If I wasn't anal about things being OEM I would have just left it, plus @Puppypunter is better at wiring etc. And yes, it comes pre wired so you don't have to worry about crimping the little tiny OEM ones, you can just reconnect with standard butt connectors.

    Quick update.

I ended up using the part that @MGMSangTaco had linked from Amazon. Removing the intake surge tank was pretty straight forward. Once I buttoned everything up, no more CEL!

I did end up finding a TON of rat turds (first time living on a ranch). I drive the truck daily which surprised me.

Thank All for the help figuring this out!
    Cheers!

I glad it worked out for you, about to do the same had a big rain and was gone for a few days, turned on truck and bam check engine light. code came back camshaft position sensor.... popped the hood and sure enough rat stuff all over and the sensor wires completely chewed threw.... question I have is why do they like this one....its a very common rodent sensor I guess lol.
