    Hello folks,

I tried googling, searching on YouTube and here on TacomaWorld, for a comparison between the CR 27W side shooters, versus the Rigid D-SS Pro Driver led lights, but could not find any.

Anyone here aware of a blog or video comparing the two?

There's quite a big price difference between the two units - so I'm wondering if there is a difference in fit/finish, light throws, side brightness, or ???

Or any folks here have long term experience with either set? I live in the PNW so am curious how they hold up in the rain.

    Cheers!

Quality between the brands is not comparable. CaliRaised is known for coating failure and flaking, especially in the PNW. Their fit and finish is sub-par and light 'throw' will not match Rigid. Choose if you want cheap disposable lights or high quality lights. CaliRaised is just flipping you cheap generic Chinese imports you can buy yourself.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Just curious - are you running any ditch lights, and if so, which ones?

I am not. With ditch lights something to consider is where you intend to aim them. The open bucket reflectors used by Cali, Rigid (most), Baja and the like have light spill in all directions which means that you'll get a lot of light splash on the hood which will be greatly reduce your night vision and be counter productive to the purpose, that is unless your lights are aimed hard over to the sides. Using a light with more pattern control like lamps that use TIR optics will prevent light spill on the hood and be much more effective in providing illumination without reducing your night vision, these style lights can be aimed more forward without negative light spill effects. For the purpose I like the smaller Morimotos 2/4bangers. While advertised as fog/wide, the pattern is more of a low beam fog hybrid with a hot spot. These will provide great output without hood splash and are nicely compact for the A-pillar location. They won't however illuminate as large or tall of an area as an open bucket lamp, so there are tradeoffs.
Morimoto reviews from the fog thread:
Morimoto 2banger HXB, Morimoto 4banger NCS, Morimoto 4banger HXB
