Brandon at Avid is awesome to deal with. Give him a heads up though, I think they're made to order (I could be wrong though), and they don't come powdercoated. I'm sure he can do something for you though. Should you decide to get a set, that is.

I'm honestly not sure about the welding bit. Never thought to ask about it haha.

Not from Calgary, but i have been there and had a great time, as i did in the rest of Canadia. Have friends in High River, okotooks and black diamond.
    The blue rockies are beautiful.

Traveled lots of Alberta up to Edmonton from Montana, and have covered all of BC. I would move to BC if i could. My experience with canadians was excellent and traveling around in Canada i never had a negative experience in 3 months of being on a awesome road trip.

Next time you are in this neck of the woods let us know and we can grab a beer :D

Fuse, I have to agree I have talked to Brandon a few times and it was nothing but a good experience all around. I could be wrong about the weld on part....anyone know this answer :confused:

Of course you can convert Bolt ons to weld ons. Sand, prep, weld. :p

If anything the mounting for the bolt ons will be beefier than what the weld ons have just due to needing more area to secure properly. My All Pro bolt ons have easily a good 20-30lbs more metal than weld ons do per slider.

You cut off a bunch of that metal and turn them into normal weld ons

Thanks for the good information. I am a little nervous of welding anything to my new frame.

You are running bolt on sliders?

    Winner winner chicken dinner!

I have them, tried to bolt them on. It's hard as fuck. You have no idea how hard the frame is to drill. I'm going to get mine welded on. Truck is mine in full in 4 months so I'm hacking, welding and molesting now.

Wait, did someone say welding? Jamie! Shut up! We'll get in trouble. I sense panties a-twisting!

    Hahaha

It you weld them on; you can erase all evidence of them being there. Drilling the frame is difficult to reverse. Both methods are hard to reverse actually.

Jamie and I got in shit yesterday on our local forum for joking lightheartedly about it.

    True.

I think many presume that bolt on means utilizing existing holes. I don't think they know you have to put a whole bunch into your frame.

Fellow cowtowner here with an Avid slider question. I'v been looking at getting the bolt on sliders from Brandon because of 1: the great service when I bought my light bar, and 2: they bolt to the existing running board mounts with no drilling.

Avid's website says no welding or drilling for the bolt on's, is this true? As mentioned before I don't want to weld or drill into my new truck...still under warranty.

They won't be any good as "sliders" if they bolt to running board mounts. Sliders need to I to the frame for sure

That makes sense, but I'm not looking for the strength...yet...may need it one day. Just looking for an alternative to my stupid sidesteps. My aries sidesteps are flaking and falling apart after 8 months, so I'm hoping to get them warrantied then sell them.

Yeah, I was impressed. He even held onto some stuff for me while I was up north longer then planned, so UPS wouldn't send it back after 5 failed deliveries haha.

At the time I ordered mine I was considering a trade in on a Tundra a few months down the road, so that played a factor in choosing bolt ons that go to factory points. Could take them off and sell easily, since they wouldn't be a factor in trade in value at all. Decided to keep what I had though.
