Has anyone succsefully installed and used a snorkel with a CAI ? If so what mods where needed and what brand of units did you use? I have an AFI and was thinking about modifing it to work with a Safari. I've just noticed a lot of people going to a snorkel go back to stock intake and I really don't want to do that. Thanks.

Who has gone back to stock intake from a snorkle? You would have to buy a new fender and inner fender air intake. o_O

PS. Snorkle is CAI, you can do away with that if you put a snorkle.

llamasmurf, well almost everyone looking for a stock intake on marketplace list that as their reason.

Besides the hole is from the snorkel not the CAI they are adding a Snorkel and removing the CAI

I think what you are reading and understanding is that the Toyota Tacoma stock air intake is considered a cold air intake because is is already pulling air through fender. Both the stock or aftermarket are both do-able, as in able to hook a snorkel to it. I would imagine that the stock would be minimal “modification”. Whereas I had to do some trimming and such

    Nothing crazy!
Sorry for reviving an old thread! I installed my ARB Snorkel few weeks ago with Injen CAI. It was a perfect fit. No modification needed. The hardest part was to squeeze the ARB hose through the factory fender hole. A little grease did the job. I could tell the difference when I drove the car. It was pleasant. I switched to AFe last week. The AFe hole is much bigger than the Injen, but it still fits over the ARB Snorkel hose. I might need to seal this one. The car drives even better. The sound is mesmerizing. I went with the AFe GT Momentum because you can add or remove their Dynamic Air Scoop.
