cable came off Hood latch - the hood is closed and I cant open the hood

2022 SR5 -- OK, the cable came off the hood latch and I can't open the hood (my fault)- now the hood is closed and I cant open the hood .. Suggestions before I get destructive??

is the cable all the way off or is just the jacket loose?

If the cable is all the way off, good luck. The latch is held by three bolts, one of which has a security cover glued over it. You'd have to get some extra long arms, defeat the cover, and snake a socket up there to undo all three bolts.

I don't have the puzzle skills to suggest how to attach the cable or coathanger it from the underside. It's purposefully protected by it's own mechanism.

 

There’s a couple of threads on here about people getting their pro grills stolen. Push comes to shove, grip it and rip it brah.

 

Or, take a grinder and cut the center of the grill out (so u don’t fuck up the mounting of the main surround) and buy a knock off pro grill for a few bux. Or pay for shipping and I’ll send you an oem Off road grill for free.

 

facts. I did that to my own grille as a joke and it came right off LOL. The pro grille is literally held on with like 10 crappy clips and no screws

edit: the housing didn't come off. Just the grille insert

It is under warranty, take it to the dealer and let them fix it. Problem solved.

 

Why is it your fault? What exactly did you do to make the cable fail?

 

it's a company truck...let the company deal with it.

 

Were does it say in the OP about a company truck?

 

This happened to me before. I used a long skinny stick and unhinged it through the grill.

Got the hood open, it was not my fault, I originally thought I had hit it when installing a light bar --- I carefully remove the three mounting bolts and was able to pop the hood- - the puck at the end cable was gone, so I got it covered under warranty
