Bypass OEM transmission oil cooler...or not?

I've watched a YouTube video in which the guy suggests bypassing the OEM, radiator built-in tranny oil cooler when installing an aftermarket cooler.

He claims someone told him there's a lot of instances in which the factory cooler bursts internally and you end up with antifreeze in your tranny!

However, as a general rule, it's a good idea to use the factory cooler as well as your aftermarket cooler, isn't it? If I understand it correctly, if you use your factory cooler with a cooler that has a bypass valve, the tranny fluid will warm up faster but then be routed through your alternate cooler as the fluid temp rises, right?

Use the factory cooler?...or not (because it's a "known issue" and it might crap out and ruin the tranny)? What do you all think?

Any neglected cooling system can one day rupture and ruin ones day. If you do bypass get a cooler for one big enough for your needs and two it has a bypass for colder months. I've got a tru cool 4454 city driving my temps are no higher than 180. If I did any towing I would of got the 4490. I bypassed mine.

One of the issues with bypassing the internal rad cooler is transmission fluid warm up .
The transmission relies on the engine to warm the fluid at first start up .
Taking into consideration where the OP lives , bypassing the internal cooler shouldnt be an issue . Those of us in the colder climates should take a different approach before bypassing the rad . True cool transmission coolers do have an internal bypass to warm the fluid , but they cant warm the transmission fluid as fast as the engine

Air coolers don't work real well with little or no air movement so if you are in the city a lot I would leave the water cooler hooked up. The coolers are at the bottom of the radiators that is the coolest spot in the system cooler than engine temp.

THe "Milkshake" is more of an issue with Auto 4runners it seems anyway. Not sure the difference in radiators.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Factory cooler does not have a bypass. As mentioned, it helps your trans fluid warm up as the engine (and engine coolant) warms up). I would recomend you keep your OEM cooler and run the aux before the OEM to insure the fluid warms quick and doesnt over cool.
This. Mostly an issue with the 4runner.
