I know when buying stuff from Ebay Could likely be not. Only from someone else's experience. A buddy of mine bought some Honda parts from Ebay. Come to find out they were not. Though they looked identical to OEM. But doing a little research I found that they were not. Especially when his sons timing belt broke way to early. Since from hearing that I have been buying only from dealerships on line. What is your guys take on this???? Is Amazon really legit? Even they say or have a disclaimer saying that everything is factory???

    It depends on the seller.
There are usually more than one seller.
I’d pick a reputable seller, if I were to buy from Amazon.

Personally, I don’t like buying parts from Amazon.
I’d rather pay a little more from a known good dealer.

Look for the name of the seller, there are many good deals on Amazon that are Toyota dealerships.
    Or check this place out.

It depends on the part. I've had good luck buying replacement TPMS for 3 different vehicles. Cost was a fraction of what other places wanted. Like buying all 4 sensors for 1/2 what other places wanted for 1 in some cases.

I replaced my headlight housings recently and looked at some on Amazon. After reading reviews and talking to others I decided to go factory.

I'm having issues with the back-up camera on my F150. Ford want's $400 and the dealer really doesn't want to sell it to me. They "claim" they need to do it and charge me another $200. I ordered one on Amazon for $70n. It works, takes 5 minutes to install, but it isn't quite right. After reading reviews lots of others had the same issues. I have a $95 one that is supposed to arrive today. According to the reviews it is every bit as good as factory. If so, I'll return the $70 one as defective.

    As mentioned above,
I also check who the seller is before buying ANYTHING on Amazon.
I don't have issues buying off brand or foreign parts/products, only issues with buying from foreign vendors.

There is some stuff I'll buy on eBay/Amazon, for critical stuff (engine/suspension), I'll go to the dealer.

Be careful and do your research. I’ve bought ngk spark plugs and they didn’t seem legit when I received them. Also, on aftermarket parts, I run a HKS mushroom filter on my other vehicle and Amazon sells a lot of fake filter replacements. Google to see if the seller is an authorized dealer and after receiving your product inspect it big time.

It comes down to the type of part.

I would buy from Amazon over Rock Auto any time.

Lots of Good vendors on Amazon some that really suck it is always buyer beware.

I received some counterfeit spark plugs and an antigravity jump starter.

Something else I’ve seen sellers do is claim something to be in stock. Once you place the order, shipping delay notices are sent.

What's your experience with rockauto.com that makes you leery of them? They've been great for me.

They're ok when they send the right part. They've sent me the wrong part two out of the two times I've tried them. And returning those parts were unnecessarily difficult.

I agree, I won't ever use the online cheap parts places.

Just had a problem with Amazon. I have a rechargeable flashlight that has a green light when fully charged. The light stopped coming on but the flashlight still charges.

The return window for Amazon closed a month or two ago so I decided to contact the manufacturer. The link took me to a page about machine tooling standards. No other way to contact them....

:rofl:Now I'm really pissed! Just did some checking. This is the flashlight I bought off Amazon for $38:

Here it is at Harbor Freight for $26, currently on sale for $22!!! :angrygirl::angrygirl::annoyed::duh::boom:

Things may have changed because of the way Rock Auto does business .Any returns need to go back to the manufacture . Which in some cases can be a pain getting a RGA #

It has been several years I ordered a few parts maybe 6 non critical parts . Nothing large or heavy.

All the parts were shipped from different locations at that time Rock Auto showed no shipping charges .

Till things were shipped the cost for shipping was more then the cost of the parts.

    Never bothered to order again.

I will admit I started to use Amazon just buying books When i was working I had a easy $100.00 a month habit I thought why not try other things .

I like the free shipping from Amazon The few problems I had were so minor and for the most my fault. The free shipping more then makes things work out in the black.

Like anything else you do need to know the vendors. I always checkout the contact information first.

Know the prices things can be bought for .

I did order NGK coil packs from Amazon for my Corolla 2 were in a different box than the other 2, and had different numbers on the part, but after researching, they were made in different places. Used them and they seem peppy-er than the Denso with no issues so far after 3 years. Plastic packaging was all ngk. I just go to the dealership and tell the parts guy to match my internet pricing and he always beats it if I supply the part numbers to save him the time.

Stick with streamlight. They’re not cheap but if you break it they fix or replace it. The only problem I have is if I lose one. So last time I paid the extra for a bright green anodized one, haven’t lost that one yet.

This is the light without the charger base. I didn’t lose that part.

I've never had problems with returning or then sending me the wrong product. I have had them send me more than 1 of the items I ordered. Like when I bought a condenser and they sent me 5. Most of the time when I start the return process for something they just send me the money without requesting the item back.

Like others have said. Know the seller. I also weigh the number of reviews but don’t rely 100% on them. Sometimes I don’t care if it’s real OEM stuff. Last month I bought a new rear chrome bumper because someone hit mine in a parking lot. I found a cheap new Chinese one for $250 will all the plastic and frame stuff attached. It removed 8 bolts and bolted the new one on. I know it’s not OEM but it looks the same.

That must have been a long time ago because I've been using them for a long time and they have always showed shipping charges when I started using them. As for only being able to ship to the manufacturer seems to no longer be a thing with them.

Don't know about that. The quality of vendors on Amazon for car parts are low. I've had more luck on better quality stuff on rockauto for OEM equivalent parts.
