Hey guys, new to the forum, currently have an 05’ 4Runner. Went to check out a 2017 TRD Pro, the car has Bilsteins and Chaos UCA’s. When test driving, it was squeaking real loud on the front end, my assumption is I’d have to change out the whole suspension after the miles on it, and they threw a bunch of grease on it to try and mask the noise, if so, the purchase price wouldn’t be worth it. maybe you guys can tell me what you think? Thanks!

171k, $27k.. I know, I know, it’s just a desperate market. Thought maybe I could talk them down, but once I got there and drove it, my mind changed quickly

judging from the spotless frame and dirty old suspension...looks like he washed and detailed it and then changed out his nice shiny suspension parts for old parts so he could resell the nice shiny ones

Man that looks rough, if you do buy it ask about the “good” suspension and have them throw them in because I would not recommend those. From the color and build up of dirt it looks like those rear shocks where leaking at one point.

I don't think there's any shiny stuff hiding somewhere, that's 5 years of abuse on those shocks...the leaf pack has the same grimy coating on it

First off, you don't grease uniballs (upper ball joint). Yes they will squeak from time to time, Mine squeaks when it rains for some reason.
The lower ball-joints are a pretty easy swap out.

That’s a steal for what the market is rn, @Mp1991. Sounds a heck of a lot better than 171k miles.

Wtf nice grease haha. Even the tires are shot. I would run away, looks like the previous owner didn’t care that much.

Is it that I'm old and blind or does that rear tire look like the camber is off?

With full maintenance records you should be able to see when the ball joints were changed last. All that grease is hiding something for sure.
