I had an absolute nightmare purchase from Scott at Dallas paint correction/luxury microfiber. I decided to try his "ceramic coating" called shield. Supposed to be user friendly, have filling properties, last a year, have a long shelf life, and overall be a decent weekend detailing coating. Well its not,it's terrible. I followed the instructions perfectly and the coating hasn't held up for even a month. It is lifting and bubbling on my paint. The remaining product in the bottle has turned to unusable goop and harr crystals, and yes I stored it according to instructions (sealed bottle, dark cabinet, inside a conditioned room in my house). Also the MF towels I received are low quality, very soft and fluffy. But they shed and off lint like crazy, even after several washes in MF detergent. I have written several emails to customer service and have basically been told to screw off. I am not a weekend warrior detailer, I have studied and practiced a lot and these are the worst products I have ever used. I normally use carpro and shine supply products and will not steer off coarse again any time soon. Here are some pictures of my 4 week old bottle of shield that was supposed to last a year after opening, that could be applied to several vehicles over that time. It's one thing that they sell a product that is this bad. But the customer service was the worst I have experienced ever, especially in the detailing world, most companies i have dealt with, bend over backwards to help you out, and I'm talking big companies like carpro and optimum. Please stay away from DPC/luxury microfiber and spread the word, Scott is a you tube sellout and one of the worst guys I have ever had to deal with. At the end of the day his offer to help me was to give me 20% off MY NEXT PURCHASE lol. He is so arrogant he thinks I will actually buy his crap again.

Wow dude that's shitty. I have been a full time detailer for the past 8 years and we are an authorized installer of CQ Pro and Reserve. Used to be an Opti-Coat Pro installer back in the days. I have never seen a ceramic coating bubble like that. Aside from the coatings I mentioned above, we also use alot of the 22PLE products and those are actually some of my favorite user-friendly (cheaper) option. Typically, when a coating fails pre-maturely, you just see the beading/sheeting effect diminish, never any physical changes to the paint like you're experiencing. Did a couple cars after competitor shops applied Modesta and Ceramic Pro and when those start failing, same thing, no physical changes to paint aside from worse water beading.

If you're saying the coating didn't even last a month, it could be fore several reasons:

    1. The product really sucks or you got a bad batch (being optimistic here).
    2. It was applied incorrectly (but I am ruling that out since you said you followed instructions and are not new to detailing).
    3. It wasn't allowed the proper time to cure and/or was washed/exposed to getting wet too soon after application.
    4. The instructions on the bottle are relative, always account for heat/cold/humidity when dealing with curing time ie. hot/humid means shorter curing time, cold means longer curing time.

I know the guy you're talking about. When I used to visit detailing forums way back, his name came up alot and I've seen his Youtube videos once or twice. Keep in mind, this is his livelihood, he'll sell you a bottle filled with sht and tell you it's the best stuff in the world because that's money in his pocket. Not saying he is doing that but business is business and not everybody is honest as you already learned. I've personally never heard of this stuff or know anyone using it. Just stick to your bigger suppliers (Detailed Image, Autogeek). Most of the stuff they carry is good and if you run into something like this, they're not gonna give you sht for it and will take care of you. They're very good people!

Did you pay with a credit card? Most major credit cards offer some form of buyer protection.

Yeah I'm going to try to do thru PayPal support for some help.

I applied it in the right weather and left it garaged for 48 hrs, no rain, and no topper added. After a few days I topped with reload, which coincidentally scott says is why the coating is failing...he said the reload ruined it and is making it bubble and flake. Says only dpc version of sio2 spray is compatible. I did not pour any reload into that bottle of ceramic, lol, so his excuse makes no sense as far as reload being the problem because the stuff in the bottle is junk. I figured maybe he would say it could be a bad batch, or could have had a puncture in the cap or something,.....nope he said it's all my fault and he can't help. Not even a partial refund. Unreal this guy.
This was the first detailing purchase I made outside of detailedimage, AG, or shine supply. And I regret it, those are all great companies and have always backed their products 100% and treated me very well as a customer.

I spent days doing a 2 stage correction with carpro clear cut and essense, after IronX and nanoskin clay decon. Truck was wiped down with eraser before application. All that work out the window, I should have just used cquartz UK 3.0 like I planned, but tried to save a few bucks and give DPC a shot. Huge mistake, now I have to polish all this crap off and start over.

The thickness of a coating is like 1 micron thick (or something like that). In any case, it's microscopically thin. I don't understand how that bubbling is even possible. There's simply too much "mass" there.

Seems like... If you scraped that off and weighed it, it would be more than the weight of what was applied??

    This is very strange.

That picture with the red background is a dinner plate, I poured a few milliliters of the product out onto it to show how its crystallized and gelatinous.

True story. I stumbled upon his shit show after him downing Adam’s Tire and Rubber Cleaner saying it had conditioners it to get rid of the brown. So I found the SDS and asked how come the brown rolls off the tire. He is full shit along with his toxic group on Facebook. When you go out of your way to bash other companies then it’s only to take the eyes off of you.

The guy is a complete joke, and for some reason he has a cult following. I'm taking my complaint to the BBB, not that it'll go far but I wanna spread the word on this clown any way I can.

I am surprised by the number of people who follow him. Reminds me of slime ball used car salesman.

I got a reply from PayPal, they are reviewing my claim and will get in touch with me soon. So maybe I will get some money back, I'm hoping so anyway. If I get some money back I will maybe try cquartz uk 3.0. I also want to try some other stuff from shine supply, those guys are awesome to deal with and make some good stuff.

What's really lame is how he didn't offer a refund or a replacement product immediately. I've seen countless examples of the McKee's guy tripping over his dick to get a replacement product out to a customer. Or even send out a product to help with the problem. This is way too niche of a market saturated with many alternatives that all damn near work as good as the another to not take care of your paying customers.

^^this exactly. Not only is the market saturated, pretty much every company will move mountains to make you happy. The customer support from companies, small and large, like the rag co, shine supply, carpro, mckees, optimum, meguires, waxaddict, and so on, is generally amazing. Probably because they realize that customer satisfaction is one way to set themselves apart from everyone else. Its not uncommon to deal with the owners of some of these business directly if an issue does come up, and in my experience they bend over backwards to help out, in some cases even recommending a product from a competitor so solve your problem. Other than scott aka DPC aka uxury microfiber aka floors & stuff (seriously that's their PayPal account info) everyone has been extremely helpful, timely, and courteous.

PayPal resolution center is still looking into this. I should know in a week or so. The seller has not offered any sort of refund or replacement. The guy is a joke and I found out he has many different PayPal accounts and emails. So guyer beware of...
    Dallas paint correction
    Luxury microfiber
Floors and Stuff - this one is kinda weird, its host PayPal account business name.

I will be buying Carpro cquartz UK 3.0 for my truck next spring. Its tried and true, it's the most popular coating on the market, continues to win awards, is highly recommended, and 50ml is a very reasonable $65-75. That's enough for 2 coats on my tundra. I should have gone with carpro to begin with. I have a dozen carpro products and love them all.

It looks good, they say it's very durable too and looks easy on and easy off. I love Jeremy and everyone at shine supply but that coating price is just too high for me. Especially when you can get cquartz or g techiq for so much less and they are proven winners for years and years

I have CQ UK on one of my wheel sets from a couple years ago. We don't use the CQ consumer coatings at my work, but from what I remember, CQ UK was good stuff!
