So don't want to ask a stupid question , but never noticed this before

Went through a pretty big mud hole fast and mud went everywhere in my engine bay now I'm smelling a weird burning smell

I'm assuming it's just the mud burning on something hot or could there be another issue happening???

You're likely correct. Check fluids to be certain, wash engine bay being careful not to flood fuses, alternator ect. Could be mud packed around exhaust as well.

I've noticed that smell as well. Likely mud burning like you said. Be careful washing the engine bay I would rinse it down after a good drive so the engine is hot and let it dry for a long time. Don't get water near your ignition coils last time I washed my engine bay I wasn't careful and had multiple misfires and threw like 10 codes after I started it up
