Bungie's Destiny

So here is an in depth look at Void 3.0 and the abilities the new Void subclass will have across all characters. Lot's of changes coming up and I can promise you that all you will see in PvP for the next few months are people running around with some variation of Void in their build. I know I will. Already started thinking about how I'd like to build my WL and Hunter. Now... Just think what it's going to be like once the other subclasses go through the same change. Once it's all completed, Destiny will feel like a completely different game. But... and this is a BIG but... It will require you to really deep dive into buildcrafting if you want to actually compete or complete.

I am perfectly fine with this as:

1: I like shit like that. It makes Destiny more MMO like than ever before.

2: This new system will separate the casual player from those that truly know what they are doing.

3: It will allow me to play with or against people that truly know what they are doing which will make Raids more entertaining and Trials even more sweaty.

Rich @TenBeers and I were playing around tonight and he brought up a good point. I can find no reliable farm for Strange Coins. Strikes and the NF give you one (maybe). It's hit or miss with that. Public Events (even heroic) may or may not give just one. The main reason for Strange Coins is to buy the Paraversal Haul boxes from the horse. So the solution (Rich deserves the credit) is to leave enough room for the horse's bounties since it will reward you at least one Strange Coin each time you play Dares. You can only hold one bounty from the horse until you complete that bounty. It only takes 3 Strange Coins to buy the bounty from the horse and you are guaranteed a Paraversal Haul once you complete that bounty. Once you finish that bounty, go ahead and pop it. You will have another Paraversal Haul sitting in your inventory. Just don't open the Paraversal Haul until AFTER The Witch Queen launches. Much better than trying to save up 7 Strange Coins just to buy the box. Much more efficient use of time. And if you run Dares, you are guaranteed at least one Treasure Key so you get a weapon after just finishing Dares on top of that. I don't know of a faster way to farm the Paraversal Haul.

 

Something else to consider and I would HIGHY recommend doing this. You can only hold 63 bounties per character. The issue is, if you have any quests sitting on the left hand side of your quest tab, they also count toward that 63. My recommendation is to get your character up to 60 instead of maxing out at 63. The reason for this is you don't want to start playing the campaign and not have space for the quests to go. It may bug out your progress if the new quest has nowhere to go. You'll want to get the season pass up to where it says "Fireteam XP boost" on your season pass before you start turning in your bounties (while in a fireteam otherwise you are wasting that XP). But you don't want your quest inventory completely full since there will be no place for the new quest / quests to go.

One other thing to consider. Once it gets close to release date, start holding on to your Umbral Engrams. With the rework to the Helm, Umbral Engrams "may" drop new weapons or armor. Or at the very least maybe higher level items to help you level up your character. Since there is absolutely no use in leveling anything up right now, it might be worth a shot. If it doesn't reward new weapons / armor pieces, you've lost nothing. You can just turn them in like normal and get the cores out of them.

 

So here is a little trick you may want to try. With the new exotics coming out for each character next season, there is a way you can target farm them. These new exotics come from doing the daily Master Lost Sector.

So here are the steps:

1: Make sure your character that you want to target farm the exotic on is completely full of engrams where any new engrams that drop have to go to the postmaster.

2: Run the daily Lost Sector that is dropping the item that you want. Today is exotic leg armor and since I'm going to run my WL through the campaign first I'd like to get the new exotic leg armor as soon as possible

3: After completing the Lost Sector you will see the exotic drop and go directly to the Postmaster. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT FILL UP YOUR POSTMASTER FROM THIS POINT ON.

When The Witch Queen drops, if the daily Master Lost Sector is for exotic leg armor then all I have to do is go to the Postmaster and open the exotic engram and it is coded to drop as an item that I don't currently have. So it will drop the new exotic leg armor for the WL.

Today the Lost Sector is on the moon and is easy to complete. Do not try this until you completely fill up your engram slots on your character otherwise it will automatically drop an item that you already have. Most important thing to do in the next couple weeks is make sure you do not fill up your Postmaster and push your exotic engram out.

Okay... I'm going to split this post up into two different parts. First is farming the Dares of Eternity. Got lucky and I've never seen the Ogre come out at the second part and drop all the loot "and" also get the bonus round in one run. That was a hell of a lot of loot (which I'll get into in a sec).

Here is the run. I somehow missed the jump after the second room because I bumped into someone and lost the Starhorse Favor. But it wasn't a big deal since we got the bonus round anyway. Shit ton of loot. My boxes are starting to add up.

Here is the run and exactly how I run it each time I run Dares (minus missing the jump after the second section ). By the way... I've now run Dares 341 times.

Now... On to exactly what I "specifically" mentioned above when target farming for the new exotics that are coming out this next season. Today is for the arms for the WL so I figured I'd go ahead and knock those out also. But my dumbass wasn't paying attention to how much stuff was going into my postmaster (especially after that Dares run) and I ended up losing not only the Exotic legs that I farmed yesterday but also 3 Ascendant Shards and a god roll Uzume PvE Sniper (luckily I didn't lose my Uzume PvP Sniper). FUCK!!! No one to blame but myself. The boots I can easily replace before The Witch Queen drops. The Sniper? Nope... It's gone forever since it's being put into the DCV. And it really sucks losing the Ascendant Shards since they are pretty hard to come by and they will be needed next season. It just sucks that I didn't pay attention to my own advice and I paid the price. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR POSTMASTER IF YOU HAVE ITEMS IN THERE YOU WANT TO KEEP.

Anyway... Here is where the Exotic Arms are dropping from today and how to get them. Not the easiest Master Lost Sector to run but not that difficult either. Arbalest, Bow (with overload bow mod on your arms), and a Heavy Linear Fusion Rifle.

Goddamnit... Today has not been my day for Trials. Started off with a winning card and for some reason the game showed we got beat on round 6 even though we had one of our guys still alive. Not only did it use my mercy (which I didn't use) but it also gave me a loss on the card. Didn't affect the other two guys I was playing with so I went on and got them to the Lighthouse even though I should have gotten it also.



Played all day and got booted multiple times due to contacting Destiny Servers. Was up on a 3 win streak and now the game is completely down. FUCK!!!!!!

 

Fuckin finally. I felt bad since I didn't reset my card before the servers went down and joined a different LFG group. Finished up the card and was going to run the rest of the card with them to finish theirs. But they seemed to think that once you gain access to the Lighthouse that you get put in the Flawless pool. You only get put into the Flawless pool once you visit the Lighthouse but whatever... Kind of felt bad for them.

I'm hoping with 8 Trials Engrams to turn in... A new weapon will drop at the start of next season. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a Trials weapon before Trials even comes back after the expansion.

 

Well, you can burn one and see what you get and save them if you don't get something new.

So, this is the last week before expansion and there is one message left to retrieve on the Mara Sov side of the HELM that has never shown up. Speculation is that there is one final mission to transition things to The Witch Queen. Maybe that is why servers were jacked up yesterday as they prep things. I was only on for a little while finishing the last Beyond Light campaign mission on my Hunter.

I signed up for the raid tonight. God help you all. Or Cthulu. Whatever.

 

I'm not sure what's going to happen at reset? Guess we'll find out in an hour. This season has been built around the Ley Lines so that should be complete today and Savathun should be released? I dunno? It's been the longest season ever in Destiny's history and I don't expect a lot since The Witch Queen launches next week. Maybe a mission with a cutscene? Maybe just a storyboard? Not sure?

The servers were so fucked yesterday I don't know why I kept on plowing ahead in Trials. But that's my problem. Once I get something on my mind I'll keep on doing it until I complete it. I'm competitive to a fault. I was talking to Grasty last night and he couldn't figure out why I kept on lol? My problem is "I" know "I" can do it. What should have taken about 45 mins (and actually did) took me all day. But yesterday? Fuck...

We got fucked on the last match. One of the guys I was playing with was alive at the end of the match but we took a loss somehow??? If I get beat I get beat. I know there are people out there that are way better than I am. But when the game beats me? That sucks since you have zero control over it. Luckily for them, they were only charged their mercy. I, somehow, was charged my mercy and it gave me a loss also. I was playing on a fresh card so I have no idea why it charged me two matches but it did. The other two guys both said that they would reset their card so I could go Flawless but fuck that. It wasn't their fault. Then I'll be fucked if the last team we faced, one dude on the other team just gave up and started spinning and shooting in a circle. I was so pissed that I actually took a picture of the card.



After that, the servers were so bad that either I got booted, someone on my team got booted, or someone on the other team would lose a member. Was on a three win streak when they shut off the servers. We had no idea that was coming. Had to join a new LFG group and completed my card. Not sure why they thought it put me into the Flawless pool? You don't go into the Flawless pool until you "physically" go to the Lighthouse. But even if it did? So what? I play in it all the time. I find very little difference. Whatever...

As far as the engrams go? I'm going to pop them all once the expansion drops. They are bringing back the Summoner Auto Rifle and I could care less about that. I've got a bunch of god rolls sitting in my vault. But they are also creating new Trials weapons. Reeds Regret was new last season so if there are any new weapons? Hopefully I might get one. The odds are long though. Even if I do get one then I have to wonder what the rolls will even be?

You'll do fine in the raid. You always have. Trust me... we all fuck up just fucking around in the raid lol. That's what makes it fun.

So my inventory and postmaster is completely full of engrams from various sources.. whats best? Leave them?

I've got 3 Vanguard ones at Zavala.. I'm going to lose those next week if I don't receive them right?

 

Here's what I've been doing. I'm drowning in engrams right now. I've been keeping a full stock of unopened Trials Engrams and a couple Eververse Engrams on my WL. The main reason I want them completely full on the WL is because I've been farming the Master Lost Sectors and I want those Exotic Engrams to go to my postmaster so when the expansion drops, if it's a day that either the Arms or Legs are the Master Lost Sector loot that drops those items, the game will already think that I have done them and I can then open up those Exotic Engrams and receive those items. Since I've decided to run my WL through first, that is the one I've been concentrating on.

Now... as far as Engrams of any type goes... My other characters are full of Exotic Engrams. Every other Engram? I delete them. I don't care if it's a Prime Engram (if your 1330 you gain no benefit from them) I'll delete it before even opening them. Umbral Engrams? Unless you are target farming, and let's face it... none of us are target farming Umbral Engrams, there isn't really a need to open them.

So long story short... I deleted every Engram that drops unless it is an Exotic and I have so many of those now, that they are going automatically to my postmaster. The Engrams that Zavala gives you? Worthless. 99% of the time it will be armor that you will never use and just delete. So if you miss out on picking up the Engrams from Zavala, Shaxx, or any other NPC that gives out Engrams from leveling up? You aren't missing out on anything. BTW... If you delete a Legendary Engram before even opening it? You still get the Legendary Shards no matter if you open it or not.

Only thing I'm keeping now are Exotic Engrams and Eververse Engrams for maybe something new when the expansion drops. Everything else? I automatically delete. No use for them now.

 

One final PSA....

This is your last week to turn in all your Gunsmith Materials. There is a 99% chance that every weapon that he gives you will be a shit roll. You might get lucky and get a good rolled weapon but in reality? You probably by this time already have a god rolled weapon in your vault or on your characters. Since the Gunsmith Materials are going away at reset next Tuesday, you want to turn in everything and delete pretty much everything he gives you for the Legendary Shards and Enhancement Cores that you get for deleting those items. I turned in over 30k worth of materials to him. I no longer pick up his bounties since my bounties are sitting at 60 on every character. If you need Enhancement Cores? Just break down Legendary items or do the farm that I posted last week. But if you don't turn in all your Gunsmith Materials? You are losing a valuable supply of Legendary Shards.

 

Dumb question.. will they not be upgraded to the new minimum LL, or are they stuck at what they dropped at?

 

Oh... I actually hit 1372 yesterday and I haven't turned in a bounty in a couple weeks now. All of that level from 1371 to 1372 was purely based on gameplay and nothing else. If there isn't a better indication that PvP gives you more XP than any other activity in the game I don't know what is? I watched my XP bar jump up each match of Trials I played yesterday. Not that I really give a shit about my characters false level. Just thought it was interesting. PvP by far gives the most XP for your time invested.

When the The Witch Queen drops next week, make sure you are using a Ghost with the Burning Light mod on it until you reach the season pass cap of 100. Burning Light gives you an extra 12% XP no matter what activity you are doing. After you hit 100 on your season pass? Take it off and use whatever works for you. No need after 100 to run the Burning Light mod since you will have completed your season pass.

 

All of your Armor, Weapons, and items stored in your vault and on your characters will automatically be upgraded to 1350 next week. You don't have to do anything.

All of the Exotic Engrams that I have stocked up right now? They dropped at 1330 and very well might open up at 1330 even after The Witch Queen drops since I haven't opened them. If I open them now? They would automatically be upgraded to 1350 next week. The only reason I'm not opening them is because I don't want to focus on doing the Master Lost Sectors next week. I just want the new items that drop. And since I'm not opening them right now. If it's a day that the Lost Sector is dropping the arms or legs, I'll automatically get those items since the game thinks that I've already completed that activity (called "target farming"). So if they open at 1330? Doesn't matter. If they open at 1330 or 1350, your going to be infusing new shit into them all the time anyway. Blues will be dropping that are much higher level than anything we have right now. Blues will be how you get to the soft cap. So it really doesn't matter what level any Engram drops now. We will be infusing shit into them next week.
